  • Soundgarden was the first garage band from Seattle to sign with a major record label
  • He created Temple of the Dog in 1990 in tribute of singer Andrew Wood from Mother Love Bone
  • Cornell’s first solo single, “Seasons,” was featured in the movie Singles
  • He covered Jimi Hendrix’s “Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)” for Stone Free: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix
  • Cornell has written songs for various artists, including Alice Cooper and Flotsam & Jetsam
  • When Soundgarden broke up in 1997, he began a solo career with help from the band, Eleven

  • In 2013, Soundgarden went on their first North American tour for showcasing their new album, King Animal.  The tour featured 20 dates, the last of which, at Los Angeles’s The Wiltern, was captured on video for the music documentary series Live From the Artist’s Den
  • In the beginning of 2013, Cornell joined Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, Brad Paisley, Jennifer Hudson and Marc Anthony at the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball in honor of the armed forces.  He and Soundgarden later joined up to play the Inaugural Ball with Keys, Paisley, Usher, Katy Perry, Stevie Wonder, Fun and others
  • Chris Cornell’s song “Seasons” was featured in the Hollywood blockbuster, Man of Steel, in June 2013
  • In July 2013, Soundgarden was featured on public TV’s “Live From the Artist’s Den”

Personal Life

  • Dropped out of high school to pursue music
  • Married Susan Silver (manager of Alice in Chain and Soundgarden) and had daughter Lillian Jean in 2000; they divorced in 2004
  • Currently married to Vicky Karayiannis and together they have a daughter named Toni (2004) and a son named Christopher Nicholas (2005)
  • He is an active supporter of Make A Wish Foundation, Stuart House, and MusiCares
