  • Age: 62
  • He rose to fame as a founding member of KISS (alter ego is Spaceman or Space Ace)
  • Functioned as the lead guitarist of KISS from 1973-1983 and 1995-2002
  • He got his nickname from his ability to get dates for his friends – he was an “Ace” for matchmaking
  • Frehley was a roadie for the Jimi Hendrix experience for one night – he helped Mitch Mitchell set up his drum kit during their last New York appearance
  • He was in a band called Millemo in the early 70s who was signed to RCA Records but never released an album
  • According to Gene Simmons, Freshley designed the lightning bolt guitar strap that has been copied by many other artists
  • He is a certified genius with an IQ of 164
  • Ace designed the KISS logo and Paul Stanley refined it
  • Frehley did not record vocals until “Love Gun” (‘77) when he appeared on the song “Shock Me”
  • Frehley’s self-titled solo album was released in ’78 and became the best-selling record of all KISS members’ solo albums – partially due to the Top 40 hit “New York Groove”
  • During the time he was separated from KISS, he released albums with the band Frehley’s Comet and as a solo artist
  • KISS reunited with all original members in ’95 for “MTV Unplugged” – they then embarked on a reunion tour that last through ’97 and released “Psycho Circus
  • He’s also tried his hand at acting and released an autobiography in 2011 called “No Regrets

Personal Life:

  • He met his wife Jeanette when he was 19 years old – they  are now divorced but have a daughter together named Monique
  • He was the victim of an internet hoax in 2007 when rumors spread that he had committed suicide by overdosing on pills

Today, David Florig, the Executive Director of WePac was in to discuss the library situation in the Philadelphia School System. Right now there are only 12 state paid libraries open at elementary schools in Philly, 28 over all. There are 150 schools in Philly.
