- They are considered one of the 80’s LA hard rock scene’s establishing acts
- Motley Crue had five multi-platinum albums in a row from 1982-1989
- The band was both loved and hated for their explicit songs about sex, drugs, and violence
- In 1984, Neil was involved in a fatal car crash in which Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley of the Finnish band Hanoi Rocks lost his life. Motley Crue’s 1985 album “Theatre of Pain” is dedicated to his memory
- Neil began a solo career in 1992 and released his first solo album, “Exposed,” in 1993
- He began the charitable Skylar Neil Foundation in memory of his daughter who died from stomach cancer in 1995
- In 1997, Neil rejoined Motley Crue for a reunion tour and released “Generation Swine,” which peaked at #4 on the Billboard charts
- He has pursued many business ventures since the 1990’s, including opening a tattoo parlor in Las Vegas called “Vince Neil Ink,” a tequila line called “Tres Rios,” and restaurant in Florida called “Dr. Feelgood’s Bar and Grill”
- Neil appeared on the VH1 reality show “The Surreal Life” in 2003
- His marriage to Lia Gherardini in 2005 was officiated by rapper M.C. Hammer in Las Vegas; Motley Crue members Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee were also in attendance
- In 2010, Neil appeared on “Skating with the Stars”
- Neil is also in the midst of attempting to get his pilot’s license and his journey has been filmed for a PBS reality show called “Vince Neil Escapes”
