- He and the Sex Pistols debuted at St. Martins College of Art in 1965
- He was given the name Johnny Rotten because of his decaying teeth
- Rotten provided the bands punk image by singing about anarchy, fascism, abortion, violence and apathy
- He penned the songs “Anarchy in the UK,” “Holidays in the Sun” & “God Save the Queen”, the final of which so controversial that Rotten was attacked and stabbed by a royalist. The song was also banned by the BBC

- In 2000 hosted his own TV program called Rotten TV on VH1, though it only last three episodes
