  • Full name:  David Robert Jones

Fast Facts

  • David Jones changed his name in 1966 to avoid confusion with Davy Jones of The Monkees
  • David Bowie said the name comes from the Bowie knife:  “I wanted a truism about cutting through the lies and all that.”
  • Bowie had a half-brother, Terry Burns, who turned him onto modern jazz growing. Burns suffered from mental illness and Bowie wrote several tracks about him, including “All the Madmen” and “Jump They Say”

  • In 1972, Bowie released “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,” a concept album about a rock star named Ziggy Stardust.  Bowie would adopt this persona for two years, including wild costumes and makeup
  • Other Bowie personas include Halloween Jack and The Thin White Duke
  • Bowie later claimed that he was painfully shy and that is why he took on personas
  • He had a heart attack in 2004 and since 2006 has been retired from the business

It was announced this week that KORN will join Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, Asking Alexandria plus a whole slew of others on this year's Mayhem Fest tour. Sara and Rabbi talked with Korn frontman Jonathan Davis about being a part of the annual festival once again, writing with Brian "Head" Welch in the studio after his long absence from the band, their latest album The Paradigm Shift and the video for the song "Spike In My Veins" (below), Jonathan's custom "Bitch" mic stand, musical influences, and more... Stream the chat now and get your tickets for Mayhem HERE. We'll see ya at the SBC on Friday August 1st!

Kenny Wayne Shepherd stopped by our studios with Noah Hunt before their sold out show at the Keswick Theatre with the Experience Hendrix Tour. We hear they'll be back in town by the summertime... Listen to our chat to find out more about that, plus the new KWS album on the horizon, and how Jimi Hendrix influenced Kenny as a young blues guitarist.
