  • Moved to Los Angeles at the age of 17 and changed his name to Nikki Sixx
  • Early in his career he played bass with bands Sister and London
  • Went on to form Motley Crew with Tommy Lee and Mick Mars.  Vince Neil joined shortly after.
  • Sixx wrote a large number of Motley Crue’s songs including 'Live Wire', 'Home Sweet Home', 'Girls, Girls, Girls', 'Kickstart My Heart' and 'Dr. Feelgood'
  • On Valentine’s Day in 1986, Sixx also overdosed while in London
  • On December 23rd, 1987, Nikki was pronounced clinically dead due to an overdose
  • Nikki Sixx usually plays Gibson Thunderbird Reverse Basses and the Gibson Nikki Sixx Signature Blackbird
  • Nikki Sixx also formed a band, Brides of Destruction with Tracii Guns of L.A. Guns.  Band broke up after one album
  • In 2006 wrote the book The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, a collection of his journal entries from 1986 and 1987  
  • Host a syndicated radio show – “Sixx Sense with Nikki Sixx”
  • Sixx is also currently in the band Sixx: A.M.
