- US Release Date: November 23rd, 1981 via Epic Records
- This was the third and final AC/DC album produced by Robert John “Mutt” Lange
- Rolling Stone magazine reviewed the album in 1981 and declared it was AC/DC’s best so far
- Angus Young thought of the album’s title from a book he had read entitled: For Those About to Die, We Salute You about the Roman gladiators
- The For Those About to Rock sessions were recorded in Paris, France
- For Those About to Rock became the first ever AC/DC record to hit number one on the Billboard charts
- After the release of the album, the band went on their first arena tour in North America
- When the group would play For Those About to Rock (We Salute You), cannons would go off on stage
- The album was released on CD in 1987 and then reissued in 1994 when it was digitally remastered
- In the movie School of Rock, Jack Black quotes the title track with the line: “In the words of AC/DC: we roll tonight, to the guitar bite, and for those about to rock, I salute you”
