  • 1582, the new Gregorian calendar, named after Pope Gregory the Thirteenth, went into effect in most Catholic countries. On February 24th, Pope Gregory had issued a papal bull correcting the Julian calendar, which was 10 days off. Today, David Florig, the Executive Director of WePac was in to discuss the library situation in the Philadelphia School System. Right now there are only 12 state paid libraries open at elementary schools in Philly, 28 over all. There are 150 schools in Philly.
