Into The Connection With Papa Roach hosted by Matt Pinfield
Posted 9/28/2012 4:00:00 PM

Papa Roach’s seventh album, The Connection, and first full-length studio record for Eleven Seven Music solidifies their signature sound – big choruses, loud guitars, raw introspection – while sonically taking a great leap ahead. Recorded over several months at the band's Sacramento-based home studio – The Red House, their first full-length album recorded there – The Connection embraces a strong digital element, while never losing sight of the band’s ferocious energy.

“This record is about all the connections I have in my life,” says front man Jacoby Shaddix. “It’s what I feel with my band, with music, with myself, with friends and with our fans when we come together. When we connect, we all become something greater.”

This is an extended version of the Into The Connection with Papa Roach radio special featuring Shaddix in a conversation with Matt Pinfield. The program highlights 6 new songs from The Connection, along with the band’s #1 hits “Last Resort” and “Lifeline.”

SEGMENT 1:
*** Jacoby discusses the health of his voice and gives insight into his recent surgery
SONG: “STILL SWINGIN”
*** A little more explanation of Jacoby's recovery, working with John Feldman of Goldfinger, writing "Still Swingin," looking back on 20 years of Papa Roach
SONG: “LAST RESORT”

SEGMENT 2:
*** Jacoby talks in depth about the influence of producer James Michael on The Connection recording sessions
SONG: “LEADER OF THE BROKEN HEARTS”
*** Jacobs talks about the influence of Tobin Esperance's passion for electronic music on the making of The Connection and offers a dissection of how "Before I Die" was made
SONG: “BEFORE I DIE”

SEGMENT 3:
*** Jacoby discusses dabbling in "the arts of self-destruction" and how he came to realize he needed to stop destroying himself, and the influence those trials and tribulations had on the lyrics for The Connection.
SONG: “WISH YOU NEVER MET ME”
*** Jacoby gives details about writing "Wish You Never Met Me" and its brutal honesty and mentions the influence of Social Distortion's White Light, White Heat, White Trash release.
SONG: “LIFELINE”

SEGMENT 4
*** Jacoby talks about building their studio, The Red House.
SONG: “SILENCE IS THE ENEMY”

SONG: “WHERE DID THE ANGELS GO”
*** Pinfield wraps up with Jacoby by talking about future plans, hitting the road again, and making videos.

Greetings Citizens,

In February of 1998 I had the pleasure of speaking with Ray Manzarek.  We discussed the stamps of The Doors that were just released and I asked him about The Doors movie, directed by Oliver Stone.  We are deeply saddened by Ray's passing but the music will always live on!

Cheers,

Pierre

Thursday afternoon, I had the chance to speak with the lead vocalist of one of my favorite bands, RIVAL SONS. They just released their 3rd album in the USA (March 19th) called Head Down. It's an amazing record. Jay and I discussed many a topic in the hour we conversed. We talked about the new record, Rock N Roll, Snowboarding, Touring, and a whole lot more. I really enjoyed our conversation and I hope you do as well. Get more information about Rival Sons at Their Facebook Page, HERE. Or, go to their website, HERE. And, don't forget to follow Rival Sons on Twitter. Thank you so much for listening,
