    316? as in John 3:16?
  2. Philly LOST NUT posted on 02/18/2009 01:44 PM
I may be wrong on this, but weren't there 324 passengers on Flight 815...so possibly the 316 refers to the other passengers that are allegedly thought to have been dead. When they were 'found' they said that only 8 of the passengers survived the crash (Jack, Kate, Sayid, Sun, Hurley, Jin, Boone & Charlie) it might refer to the 316 that are 'dead'/left behind.
  3. Blue posted on 02/18/2009 02:12 PM
The # of survivors is interesting notion, but it is more likely that this is a veiled reference to John 3:16 (from the Bible). It is a widely known passage where basically god lets his only son go (to earth) to save man & those who believe will not perish... so we're back to purgatory. I bet John can't walk tonight...

there was only ever 6 people "found" not 8. jack, kate, aaron, sayid, sun, and hurley

It's only 9:39, and a commercial, and I know I should wait til the end of the episode but... "A promise to an old friend"? Ben is wet and covered in blood? Desmond isn't done with the island yet? I really REALLY hope Ben didn't kill Penny...

a few things 1. The whole doubting thomas things clearly means a lot more then we think 2. this is the secret plane that they showed in the previews for the season a few months back 4. that arab guy was in the movie vantage point with jack. so im positive he is gonna have a role on the show.

I predict that Ben killed Penny and that makes me really sad if it's true!!! But then Desmond will go back to the island to go after Ben. And, I missed the first 8 minutes... what happened to Aaron? Did they show that?
  14. Lostdivanista posted on 02/18/2009 09:35 PM
Ok.. Ben doing the whole doubting Thomas thing was him becoming Eko. remember they had to at best re create the way things happend and situations.. so syid becoming the prisoner, Ben also filled the cripple role.. I guess he was DETERMINED to get back on that island.. a friend of mine thinks Kate Got preggers the night she slept with Jack and dumpped Aaron, so she could be the pregnant girl.. and Frank who was supposed to be on the 815 flight anyway. Why did Kate seem distant from Jack after 36 hours before sleeping with him... she also kinda looked like Anna lucia for a moment.. maybe that was just me. 316 does refrence Jesus Death to save everyone who believes.. which is also what John wwrites in his suicide letter to Jack Jack was tempted in leaving the island and if he had not commited this sin, jon wouldn'd t have to die.. just as if adam an eve didn't sin they wouldn't have been kicked out the garden of eden..and the world would not need a savior. What if the island is the garden of eden.. which was hidden because of the sin of adam and eve. Adam eve in the cave?!?! ok I just pulled this out my butt but some of it makes sense!! This was the best frickin episode ever I was almost afraid that the secretly were gonna make this the finally.. how could it get any better?!?! Oh and you guys ROCK!

Let me preface this by saying I am not negative, never critical of Lost and love nearly every (if not every) episode...I was disappointed, REALLY disappointed. I didn't like the way that they got back to the island, didn't like how quickly the events unfolded and I really think they missed out on some good story opportunities. Maybe they will surprise me but my early judgement is to say for the first time I'm not sure I like the direction they are going...I hope I'm wrong. Why was such an important event, "the return" rushed so quickly? Wouldn't this have been a logical re-entry point for Walt? He's an intriguing and seemingly important character...are they abandoning his story line? Did they kill off Penny? If so, that seems unnecessary and disappointing. I do like the possibility that someone mentioned earlier of Kate being pregnant...that would be interesting.

I noticed Hurley was carrying a guitar case. I am assuming it is Charlie's and Charlie is the one who told him to go to the airport and flight. He never answers when Jack asks how he knew to get there. He just says I got here dude, or something like that. Also, I thought the guard with Sayid resembled Anna Lucia, who also was apolice officer. What did Kate do with AAron!!! Maybe gave him to Claire's Mom? If Ben killed Penny, that would be soooo messed up!!!!
  18. Fred posted on 02/19/2009 03:03 AM
I think the theory about Ben killing or attempting to kill Penny may be right. Ben calls Jack from a marina. When he sees Desmond he probably realises it's his chance to get to Penny then escape to the island.

What happened to baby Aaron and Sun's daughter?"you will never ask me that question again!"that doesnt sound good at all!!I love Hugo buying up seats on the flight and is that Charlie's guitar he is carrying in the case? What happened to Ben? Is is possible that Desmond gets brought back by being at a "window" when traveling in his boat so he can return to the island? I love seeing Frank Lapidus again and ispossible for Ben to not lie to people?"My mother taught me to read" haha!My new theory is that Daniel is Jacob.Just a feeling no real logic to it.

Jack= Doubting Thomas; John = Jesus Theories on Aaron- either Kate left him with Sawyer's daughter (as someone else suggested) or he "disappeared" with "ghost Claire". I really hope Ben did not kill Penny or hurt her son Charlie. I'm sure they will come back & show us several "flashbacks" of how each character wound up at the airport, including Hurley getting out of jail & retrieving the guitar, what happend to Kate & Aaron, how Sayid got there, etc. Agree that they do seem to have abandoned Walt, and that stinks.

This is a random thought, but it keeps popping into my mind. How did Aaron survive on the island for so long after Claire left him? Claire was pregnant on the plane, so she didn't have formula with her. Then when she gave birth to him, she breast fed. Well, when she left Aaron in the woods, how did they keep him alive? Like I said, it just keeps popping into my mind. Not sure if this is significant to anything about Aaron. If anyone has ideas, please let me know....

Hurley knew about the plane and what to bring from the comic book he had. Remember the one that Walt had in Season 1? I think it will help explain the time shifts, smoke monster, and some of the other Island mysteries.

I think Charlie or one of the other corpses told Hurley to go back to the island. Which is why he wouldn't talk about who told him to go back. He was always embarrassed to talk about seeing people. And does anyone know why Walt doesn't have to go back to the island?

I thought for sure that when Jack was in the bar, he was going to flirt with the girl and then she was going to be on the plane...That's how he met Ana Lucia!! I think Ben could be Sawyer, the con artist on the plane. Sayid is definitely Kate, the felon. And the cop could be Ana Lucia but there was also an agent with Kate, who did not die right away. Obviously Locke, is Christian Shepard. Kate is Claire, pregnant. Hurley brought "Charlie". Sun, doesn't she have Jin's ring? So I think the other people on the plane have to be something significant. Next week's previews look freaking awesome.

Anyone notice Jack's "leap of faith" when he rescued Hurley? I wonder if he's going to take over for John, and actually start believing in this process. Kate's only choice would be to turn Aaron over to his grandmother. Who else would she trust, considering the connections of Widmore and Ben? I'm super interested in why Sayid is showing up in cuffs with a federal escort. Somehow he's walking into this scene in Kate's shoes, with a trail of murders behind him. How was he caught, and why would they take him to Guam? Could it be related to his interegation work with Clancy Brown's character? I can't even begin to wrap my head around Jin yet. Did anyone notice the person standing with John when he tied the noose? Was it Ben?

We'll see Walt in John's backstory next week. Hopefully he has something significant to contribute. It would've been cool to see him return to the island. Loved Jack's literal leap of faith. He had his last doubting Thomas moments while in the "real" world but once he returned to the island he showed he is ready to do things differently this time and just believe in the island's powers to guide him. Ben either killed Penny and got bloodied up in the process or went to see Sayid and got his ass kicked. I'm hoping it's the latter but I'm pretty sure Penny's not gonna make it to the end of the show. I think we've already seen the high point in the Des/Pen saga and there's nowhere to go but down. Either way you can bet that Ben has something to do with Sayid being escorted onto the plane in cuffs. Can't wait to see all the other off-island back stories: Ben, Sayid, Hurley, Kate, Sun. Love this f'in show!

Maria 2016... I have wondered the same thing for the longest time... as soon as sawyer brought the baby out of the jungle and gave him to kate.. my first thought was, how the hell are they gonna feed this baby??? for some reason though i dont think that is a big deal because it is so minor and probably only moms think about that stuff... it doesnt seem like they will make an effort to explain how aaron was fed after claire left... he obviously was or he wouldve died... the only logical way for him to eat would be to nurse off of sun since she was pregnant... milk can come in if stimulated enough and she already had the hormone thing going for her.... i dont think that happened though... we will just have to wait and see... one more question.... WHEN WILL DANIEL FARRADAY STOP WHISPERING AND TALK IN A NORMAL VOICE!!!!! ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!

There is a lot of discussion about Aaron, but nothing about Sun's child or Desmond's child Charlie. I don't think the writers are going to make them orphans. I was alittle surprised that Sun left so fast without even mentioning her own child. Did I miss something?

It makes complete sense that Ben could have killed Penny, she is Widmore's daughter and it would be perfect to accomplish 2 things for Ben 1) Revenge for Widmore's man, Keamy, killing Alex and 2) Luring desmond back to the Island. It did seem to me that Ben took the demise of his daughter rather lightly. OH!!! And perfect Ben Linus response to "What happens to the other prople on the plane?" WHO CARES!!! LOL!!!

when locke turned the wheel last week, the time shifts on the island stopped because he unhinged it. but that happened 3 years ago in real time. so jin and the other survivors have been living in the 1970s for 3 years now (we don\'t even know which ones are still alive), and had plenty of time to join forces with dharma and try to fit in... hence jin wearing the dharma suit, and the new van.

I could move my desk back in time 1 year and it would still be sitting in the same place, I would still be able to find it, it just wouldn't have my new computer I got last week, right? The Island has to be in some alternate world or black hole or something. 2. Mrs. Hawking indicated that the Island continuosly moves through time and "windows" are opened to get to and from the Island. Was the Island continuously moving prior to BEn turning the wheel? and why doesn't Richard age? its crazy, how is he "stuck" in time.

Alright, throwing my 2 cents out there on this episode. I really dont think the plane, the rest of the crew or anything else matters anymore... I think the flight continues on to Guam without a issue...just turbulence. When Desmond turned the key and blew up the hatch - everyone on the island was exposed to the blast (suvivors both jack and ana lucia groups, as well as the others). Back at the end of Season 2. Now, flash forward to the last episode, showing how only jin heard the hum and saw the light of the radiation blast and shifted in front of russo. Russo remained constant on the island, continuing her everyday life. So on the plane, the oceanic 6 (ben, jack, kate, hurley, sayid and sun) and the corpse of locke, are going to shift in time and space off the plane, the plane, as the constant, will continue to guam with lapidis piloting...with no more issues. Of course, I'll end up being proved wrong later...=/

I also remember a scene somwhere that Sun tells her kid that he/she will have a new friend. Aaron is in Korea.

(she was in next weeks show-clip with Locke) And while it answered the all-important, "How'd they get back to the Island mystery..." another interresting question on the show this week, besides the ones stated is, what happened to the plane? ok, i think that... Charlie must have convinced Hurley to go back and told him he had to bring the guitar just like Jack brought the shoes. I think Ben either killed Penny or was involved with Syid's arrest. Aaron is with Claire's mom, which is why Ben made sure Kate knew of her in previous epp. and Kate is going back for Sawyer. When Locke turned the wheel he froze the island at that time which is why Jin has the Dharma outfit on. And finally, in answer to the island moving thing, Elle says that the island is constantly moving, it's why they were never rescued. p.s. Jack is still a whimp - and why can't P&S put some cute guy pictures next to this window instead of same old bimbos??

I thought that Kate had something to do with Sayid's arrest and Hurley being on the plane. I think she cut a deal with Ben where she would go back and get Sayid and Hurley to go too if Aaron didn't have to go and would be taken care of. I think he is with Claire's mom. Does anyone besides Jack know that Claire is his half sister and Aaron his nephew? Now Ben can not be trusted, but several times he has given his word and kept it (letting Michael and Walt go; Letting Kate get on the helicoptor after she helped his people). He promised Jin that Sun would not come back to the island. Did he keep his promise? I don't think that Sun will come back to the island. I also don't think that the plane really crashed, but that they were flashed off. Can't wait to see what happens and to be proven wrong in all my theories!

Interesting episode. I'm a huge LOST fan and I don't ever think I've knocked it before, but I thought the script was a little weak. Jack over reacting about putting something of his dad's in Locke's coffin. He might not like the idea, but it was a little over the top. And how come when he goes to see the old man in the home he spends the first several minutes calling him "Ray" and treating him like a former patient, and then suddenly switches it to "Grand dad", like they were suppose to cue the suspenseful music right at that moment, "daun-daun-dauuuun!" A huge surprise? A little anti-climactic, I think. And what about Kate's reaction to the Aaron question, another over reaction? It's almost as though the writers are trying to push the main story line and letting everything else suffer. I hope this was a fluke and not a sign of things to come. oK. Now on to some theory. I think as some people have suggested only the Oceanic 6/5 were impacted by the flash on the Ajria flight. Remember, way back when Desmond first arrived on the island he had talked about the influence of exposure to high levels or radiation? This would have been everybody on the island when Desmond turned the key in the hatch. The sky went purple and everybody would have been exposed. This exposure would subject all of them to the influence of the islands temporal displacement when they are near it. It may also affect anybody sitting near one of the O6 in the same way being near the island can affect you. This explains Jin travelling in the water, and might explain the other people sitting in Business class with the O6. Lapidus would not have travelled back because he was not exposed, nor was he within proximity - so in short the flight was unaffected. As for Aaron, I think Claire's mother is a good possibility. There really isn't any other explanation for why she would be in LA. If it were really to get the settlement check, they would have flown out to her - they are an airline they have the resources to do that. Even if they could afford to fly her out to LA would they really impose that much on her? I don't think so. I would think they would put her up in a nicer hotel, too. (I think this is just another example of a weak script). But it does put Claire's mother in the area for Kate to drop Aaron off to. She might also figure that Aaron is safe there because Ben would never think to look for Aaron with Claire's mother. So she'll return to the island, convince Sawyer kill Ben, and Aaron is safe - although Kate will probably never get him back. So what's going on with the island? It's been posted here before, and recently again, that the island maybe Atlantis. I think that's a good theory but I'm wondering if the continent of Lemuria (or Mu), or a melding of both legends, isn't a more reasonable explanation. Lemuria was supposed to have been even more advanced than Atlantis and they were supposedly doing experimental things with energy. The last time I mentioned Lemuria I also pointed out a wierd connection between Lemuria and the numbers which can be found on other sites and is certainly not my own discovery. If you open an MS Write document or MS Notepad document and hold down the ALT key while entering the numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42) from the number keypad on the right side of the keyboard you will see the symbol (µ) which is the scientific symbol for Mu. I think by combining the myths of Atlantis and Lemuria and throwing in a dash of Bermuda Triangle the producers are creating a new story. The Bermuda Triangle story suggests that there are several energy points around the globe. These points represent concentrations of energy that cause wierd things to happen electronically and as legend has it even causes things to shift in time and or space. These energy points are where the island appears, one such place is in the South Pacific where Flight 815 crashed, another is off the coast of Africa in the Atlantic, the more popularly known place is the Bermuda Triangle and there are others. If the island is constantly moving, and this was going on before Ben turned the donkey wheel according to Mrs. Hawking, and then the turning of the wheel put the island in movement through time as well, it would become exponentially difficult to locate. If you noticed, after Ben turned the wheel it was very wobbly and according to Christian Shepard when he was talking to Locke, the wheel was off its axis. This wobbling could account for the constant temporal shifting that the island is going through. If the wheel is not set and it's constantly shifting back and forth, then the island would be constantly shifting back and forth in time. It could be that Locke's movement finally set the wheel and now they are settled in a particular period in time on the island. This would stop the island from moving through time and allow Mrs. Hawking to use the equation to locate it in space. Remember, Locke would have stopped it in 2004 which means it took Mrs

I will agree with those who thought the show felt a little rushed this week and that was mainly because we only saw Jack's path back to the Island. I think in future episodes they'll revisit the flashback technique and reveal just what happened to the others to put them on that plane. Lapidis was great. All he has to do is see them all there and knows exactly what's going on. I think a few of the people from the plane are going to be there with them. Most likely those in closest proximity like the few other passengers in their section the stewardess and probably Lapidis but then I'm not sure who the rest of the world will deal/explain these people just vanishing while the plane moves on. There wasn't that long of a period between Claire leaving and them leaving the island. I don't think its a big deal.

So this last episode built up Locke as the christ figure and Jack as the image of Doubting Thomas. I think the next episode will delve further into this with Jack arguing with Locke about going back. Do you think the show will build up the other Oceanic Six as other religious figures because of the semi-reference to the john 3:16 verse? I wonder...

Haven't seen this one yet so I'll just throw it out there. Sayid was being escorted back to Guam by the Officer because that is where he killed that guy on the golf course and Ben pulled some strings to get him arrested in time to be on the flight. I think that we're going to find out that all this is occurring in the time that Locke is falling form the window that his dad pushed him out of. So the finale will end with Locke hitting the ground and dying.

At the beginning of the episode, after it shows Jack, Kate and Hurley on the island, it flashes back to the church with Eloise and says "46 hours earlier." But Eloise says they only have 36 hours to get to the island, so where did the 10 hours go? Also, remember the two skeletons they found in the caves in the first season? I think they're Amelia Earhart and her copilot!

Can never get thru when I call... but do we think that the reason Ben is all bruised/battered/bloodied in the last episode after he said he had some business to tend to... because he was off trying to kill Penny? He saw Desmond in the church - asked him what he was doing there. Prob realized that if Des was there in LA, Penny was most likely with him - and went off to fulfill his promise/threat to C Widmore that he would kill his daughter, since Charles killed his...........

****EASYKEEL So, you're saying that Charles Widmore could be his own grandfather?!?!? The possible mutations of crossing DNA here would probably be catastrophic, don't you think? That theory would mean that Charles Widmore slept with a woman, who gave birth to Penny, who then in turned, slept with Desmond and then gave birth to him? You have some good theories, but that one doesn't seem logical at all. Just my opinion.

As far as Jin having the VW van that looked all new, and new Darma jumpsuit... Is it possible that when Locke jolted the wheel to stop it from creating the time warps, that it kicked the island back in time? Since before Locke did this, the Island was going back and forth in time.

*****DAMON Thanks for reading that ridiculously long post. However, take note that I said it would be a "Hoot" if that were the case. That is to say it would definitely be fouled up if that's what they did. Given they're playing with Time Travel here, it is not beyond the boundaries of logical possibilities. Probablity is another story, and you would get no argument from me about the genetic ramifications of such an event. Nevertheless, given the probability of time travel in "the alternate reality of" the LOST storyline such an event is possible. While I post that as a possibility, it is not a theory I subscribe to - I put it out there to see what chatter it generates. Thanks again for reading.

In regards to Jack telling Kate that he is Aaron's nephew, he mentioned in the episode when Kate was following the lawyer, he said I am at least related to him. As for Ben going after Penny, how does he know that Desmond and Penny are even married. How does he know that Desmond has any relationship with Penny. From what we know, Desmond has never had an encounter with Ben, therefore Ben shouldn't know anything about Desmond and Penny being together. But then it wouldn't suprise me that he does know all about them. I don't think he killed her, Desmond won't let it happen!!

***EASYKEEL Very true, you did say a "hoot". All of your other theories were plausable and well written, so I could read them easily and thouroughly. Some of the people that post on these blogs dont use punctuation and tend to ramble. And them some of them are WAY off, I can tell they haven't really been watching the show. I'm a LOST fan from beginning to the end baby!! This show rocks!

When Jack asked Ben how can you be reading Ben says "my mother taught me" Didn't his mother die giving birth to him?

Ben knows EVERYTHING. That's how he knows about the Penny and Desmond connection.
