- Born on January 17, 1949 in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England, UK
- Picked up a guitar at age 9 after being inspired by his guitar-playing uncle
- As a teen, played in bands called the Juniors and the Gods
- Got his break at the young age of 16 when he sat in with respected blues band John Mayall’s Bluebreakers for the second half of a gig, replacing ERIC CLAPTON who hadn’t turned up; he then became the band’s guitarist
- Replaced Brian Jones in 1969 in The Rolling Stones
- Part of The Rolling Stones from 1969-1974
- Taylor left the Rolling Stones because of musical differences and substance abuse
- He played on Bob Dylan’s ‘Infidels’ in 1983 and toured with the music legend
- He has released six solo albums between 1979 and 2007
- Taylor was elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, as a member of The Rolling Stones
- Most recently, Taylor performed at one of the Stones’ 50th anniversary shows, which was broadcast on Pay-Per-View
