  • When he was approx. 10, he sang at the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953 as part of a choir.
  • Richards received his first guitar at age 15.
  •  Richards wasn’t a great student.  He was expelled from Dartford Technical School.
  • Richards has been arrested five times since 1967.
  • The story goes that Richards played the now famous riff for Satisfaction into a tape recorder in the middle of the night and didn’t remember doing it until the next day.
  • Richards also ended up with Richards fellow Stones member Brian Jones' former girlfriend Anita Pallenberg and went on to have 3 children with her.
  • Richards was busted possession of heroin in Toronto in ’77 and to avoid jail he performed a concert to benefit the blind.
  • Richards played on albums for or has produced for such artists as Tom Waits, George Jones, Aretha Franklin, Bobby Womack, Ivan Neville, Bo Diddley, Ronnie Spector and reggae singer Max Romeo.
  • Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1993.
  • He was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 (as a member of The Rolling Stones).
  • Keith played Jack Sparrow's father, Captain Teague, in the second 'Pirates' sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007).
  • In his 2010 autobiography “Life” Richards shared that his nicknames for Mick Jagger are 'Brenda' and 'Your Majesty'.

Today, David Florig, the Executive Director of WePac was in to discuss the library situation in the Philadelphia School System. Right now there are only 12 state paid libraries open at elementary schools in Philly, 28 over all. There are 150 schools in Philly.
