Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong played a surprise solo show last Thursday night (June 12th) in Oakland, with his band for the evening featuring his son Joey on the drums. According to Loudwire, the Armstrongs performed under the name Two And A Half Men at 1-2-3-4-Go Records, with a set consisting mainly of deeper Green Day cuts like "Church On Sunday," "Stuck With Me" and "Nuclear Family."

  • Rounding out the impromptu band was Green Day touring sideman Jason White.
  • Joey Armstrong, who also plays in his own band Emily's Army, posted photos and videos from the show on Instagram.
  • Green Day toured throughout much of last year in support of its three 2012 albums -- Uno!, Dos! and Tre! -- but announced in late 2013 that they were planning to take most of this year off.
  • Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt revealed last month that his wife Brittney had started undergoing treatment for breast cancer, saying that his family is “determined to get though this as quickly and openly as possible.”
