So just how did the Red Hot Chili Peppers get the chance to play the Super Bowl halftime show this Sunday (February 2nd)? Drummer Chad Smith says that it was simple: headliner Bruno Mars told the NFL that he wanted them on board as his special guests. Smith told us that the Chili Peppers weren't about to say no: "They would never ask us, you know, they don't do rock bands anymore, I don't think, so -- maybe in 20 years they might ask us (laughs). But you know, it's a big event, obviously, and you know, we've done some wacky gigs, but this one, this will be up there."
