  • Blabbermouth reports SYMPHONY X and ADRENALINE MOB singer Russell Allen will  be part of the East Coast production of the legendary TRANS-SIBERIAN  ORCHESTRA this holiday season. His first show is scheduled for November 13  in Toledo, Ohio.  TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA is a rock orchestra founded in 1996 by  Paul O'Neill, Robert Kinkel, and Jon Oliva (SAVATAGE). The band's musical style is often described in different  terms, incorporating progressive rock, symphonic metal, and heavy metal, with  influences from classical music.  In a 2010 interview, Oliva stated about TRANS-SIBERIAN  ORCHESTRA: "We are not restricted to just four or five people in a band.  There are like 50-60 different musicians and singers, string players and choir  people that we use.  "To me, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA is a very open canvas, because we  have that comfort to be able to use whomever we want whenever we want. We're not  working inside of a box.  "When it was called SAVATAGE, we couldn't do songs like 'Remnants  Of A Lullaby' or things like that with a band of that name, because people  just wouldn't have accepted it. I think TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA has  opened up a lot of doors for us. I don't feel any kind of restrictions."

  • Blabbermouth reports DEDVOLT, the Sacramento, California-based rock/metal band featuring  SKINLAB frontman Steev Esquivel on guitar, has entered Trident  Studios in Pacheco, California with producer Juan Urteaga to begin  recording its debut album for an early 2014 release via via Felony1  Records.  An eight-minute video clip featuring footage of the drum-tracking sessions  for the DEDVOLT CD can be seen below.  DEDVOLT plays "aggressively heavy yet melodic music, feeding off each  other to form a cohesive and dynamic sound," according to the band's official  bio. "Their mission is to offset limitations and explore the many different  influences within the band and sharing it with a wide array of their fans.  Sharing the musical stylings of SEVENDUST, SHINEDOWN and  CHEVELLE, DEDVOLT has a sound of their own that will surely grab  the attention of even the heaviest metal fan.  Writing music that will stand the test of time is the goal for  DEDVOLT. "Our songs are infused with emotion, at times painful  emotion...It's real," says Esquivel. "We're all driven by passion and  fueled by dedication and we prove it in our show."  Since the band's formation in December 2011, DEDVOLT has been putting  miles on the road playing shows throughout the West Coast and their relentless  dedication is slowly paying off.  DEDVOLT's debut EP, "Let It Burn", was released in  February.  For more information, visit

  • Blabbermouth reports DEATH DEALER, the new band featuring MANOWAR and the  DICTATORS guitarist Ross "The Boss" Friedman alongside vocalist  Sean Peck (CAGE), guitarist Stu Marshall (producer and  guitarist for such voices as Udo Dirkschneider and Steve Grimmett)  and bassist Mike Davis (HALFORD, LIZZY BORDEN), has parted  ways with drummer Kenny "Rhino" Earl (MANOWAR) and has replaced  him with Steve Bolognese.  Says the group: "DEATH DEALER would like to wish Kenny all the  best as he departs the unit to spend more time with his family and concentrate  on a career outside of music. He will always be our brother."  A former drummer for INTO ETERNITY and a Berklee College Of Music  instructor, Bolognese is often spoken of as "the drummer's drummer,"  having received mentoring from drum prodigy Mike Mangini (DREAM  THEATER).  Says Steve: "I'm happy to announce I have joined DEATH DEALER.  It's been awhile since I've played such triumphant metal but it feels great to  be back at it. It's amazing to be in a band with such talented musicians. I'm  really looking forward to working on this new epic material and hitting the road  with it for all to see."  Added Peck: "When we discovered Steve was interested in joining  the band, I called him up and found out he is a true road warrior.  "We have a lot of tour plans coming up and he has been on some great ones. He  knows the game and how to bend it to his will, no matter what the circumstances  may be.  "Besides being a technical thrash master from hell, he is a funny dude and  fun to hang out with, which will make him a welcome addition to DEATH  DEALER as we get ready to really blast off with a packed 2014 schedule! I  couldn't be happier!  Said Marshall: "While Steve has some amazing technical  credentials, he has a strong foundation as a fan in traditional and true metal.  He's a total monster behind that kit."  Commented Davis: "Steve and I have been jamming the DEATH  DEALER set for a few months now here in Hollywood and it has just been  ferocious! He was our targeted first choice when we knew Rhino needed to  be replaced. We are just glad he was available and now it is time to throw down  the gauntlet! Now that three of us [Davis, Peck and  Bolognese] in the band are located here in Southern California, it makes  it everything we are planning and doing that much easier."  DEATH DEALER is working on material for its second album for a 2014  release.  DEATH DEALER's debut album, "War Master", was released in Japan  on June 12 via Rubicon Records and in the rest of the world on June 13  through Steel Cartel Records.  "The DEATH DEALER sound is a mighty combination of five very talented,  seasoned musicians," explained Ross. "It's classic power metal with the  brutal edge of thrash, speed, and precision."  For more information, visit

  • Blabbermouth reports Florida death metallers OBITUARY have completed the songwriting  process for their next album, tentatively due in early 2014. The band states;  "We will take our time, trim the fat and focus on making these bass boys as  bad-ass as possible. We can't be more excited how they are turning out and are  so ready to start recording them! You guys will be so proud of us when you hear  it. The old Florida rednecks pulled one out of the bag and created a sick  record! Fast, slow, mid-tempo groove, gut-wrenching and heavy as all get out!!  Can't wait for you to hear it!"  OBITUARY kicked off a short East Coast tour in early October with a  pair of back-to-back shows at Saint Vitus Bar before flattening nine more venues  through October 20.  Having been holed up in their own Redneck Studios the last few months  penning the follow-up to 2009's punishing "Darkest Day" full-length  (2009), OBITUARY's recent shows served as a temporary writing  break.  The as-yet-untitled full-length will be recorded with the  Kickstarter funding help of their legion of dedicated fans around the  globe. The campaign was rooted in an honest desire to produce the next record on  the band's own terms.  "We've been creating death metal since 1984," the  band commented. "It's who we's in our blood.  "If there's one thing that we've learned touring all these years, it's that  OBITUARY fans are among the most loyal and supportive motherfuckers in  the world!  "We've been trying to find better ways to engage with and give back to our  fans.  "Over the past couple of years, we've streamed concerts live from around the  globe, given away tons of merch packages and dozens of all-access backstage  passes. It's inspiring to see and share in your excitement about  OBITUARY, and the inspiration that provides keeps us going. This is about  putting our trust, our music, our career, and our new album in fans' hands! We  want to make music for the people who still come out to shows, still sport our  gear, and still have a 'Slowly We Rot' cassette in their  car."
