AC/DC singer Brian Johnson and seven champion race car drivers will compete in a Porsche 935 JLP HD1 on December 8th in Sebring, Florida to help raise funds and awareness for Huntington's Disease. The four-hour event at the famous 3.7-mile Sebring International Speedway is sanctioned by Historic Sportscar Racing Ltd. The other internationally acclaimed drivers include Rob Dyson, John Fergus, Hurley Haywood, Roger Mandeville, Jim Pace, Brian Redman and Dorsey Schroeder.

Johnson, a longtime auto and racing enthusiast, told us not long ago that the thrills of racing and playing rock are not too different: "There's not much difference when you think of it. You've got a crew, you've got a race crew, and band, you've got the band crew. The excitement when the flag drops, the green flag drops, and the excitement when you walk onstage for the first song, it's a very similar feeling, you know what I mean?"

  • Johnson wrote about his passion for cars and racing in his 2011 book, Rockers And Rollers: A Full Throttle Memoir.
  • The vocalist and three other drivers finished 32nd in a field of 59 cars in January 2012 during the 50th running of the Rolex 24 auto race at Daytona International Speedway in Florida. Johnson used that race as a means to raise funds for families affected by pediatric cancer.
  • AC/DC's last album was 2008's Black Ice. The band has reportedly been working on new material since last year although there has been no official word about a new album or tour.

Sabatino Calpurnio wrote: "I REALLY hope AC/DC don't wait another 5-6 years to record and tour. I fear they won't be able to hack it by then. Just bang out one last killer album, go out on tour and remind the world for the last time that you're one of the greatest, loudest, most energetic bands in the history of rock'n'roll."

Ejm Ufoman wrote: "i really dont think we need another ac/dc record at all, i do think they should go out and do ONE MORE BIG TOUR!!! lets face it brian is 66, angus is 58, how much longer can it really last???"
