Former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic has confirmed that he plays bass on the long-awaited new album from Modest Mouse, according to Spin. Novoselic revealed in an interview with Spotify, "I did a song with Modest Mouse earlier this year for their new record. It's pretty edgy. I've got my big Gibson bass and a Rat distortion pedal busting out . . . this bass riff." Novoselic did not say what the name of the song was and there are no further details available about the track or the record itself.

  • It's been six years since Modest Mouse issued its last studio effort, 2007's We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank.
  • The group canceled a European tour in June to work on its sixth album after performing three new songs in concert earlier in the year.
  • OutKast rapper Big Boi is also reportedly a guest on the new disc.
  • Novoselic has been doing interviews to promote the release of the deluxe 20th anniversary reissue of Nirvana's final studio album, In Utero, which includes 70 previously unheard outtakes, demos, alternate mixes, unreleased tunes and more, along with a complete live DVD/CD.

  • Modest Mouse was formed in 1993 in the town of Issaquah, Washington.
  • The band released its debut album, This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About, in 1996.
  • The group scored a commercial breakthrough in 2004 with its fourth album, Good News For People Who Love Bad News, which went platinum and landed the band its first hit singles with "Float On" and "Ocean Breathes Salty."
