Linkin Park has teamed up with Kuuluu Interactive Entertainment to create a new environmentally-themed video game called Recharge, according to Loudwire. The game is a third-person 3D online experience that combines puzzle, adventure and fighting elements. Instead of battling villains, however, players work in unison as part of a rebellion to regain natural resources from those who hold them in power.

Unveiling the game at a Berlin press event, singer Mike Shinoda said, "In this future world, the earth's natural resources have almost run out, so as you can imagine with the way that people are to one another, the people who have control of the resources have the power and they're basically using it to keep everyone else as their subordinate. As a player you're a member of the rebellion against that and you work with your group to beat those guys, to take back the power and to free the human beings."

  • Shinoda called the development of the game a "dream come true," adding that the band worked closely with the publisher on the story and characters.
  • The band hope to include charitable upgrades for the game, with players purchasing new features and proceeds from sales going to help aid natural resource issues in the real world.
  • Linkin Park's latest album, Living Things, came out last year. The band played its only North American concert of 2013 on February 16th at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
