A Perfect Circle gave one of its increasingly rare live performances on Saturday (March 30th) at Lollapalooza Brazil and footage of the entire concert almost immediately hit YouTube. According to Loudwire, the Maynard James Keenan-fronted act was one of the headline names on Saturday's bill, delivering a set mostly taken from its Thirteenth Step and Mer de Noms albums, along with covers of John Lennon's "Imagine" and Depeche Mode's "People Are People."

  • The band, which features Tool singer Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Billy Howerdel and others, came out of hibernation in spring 2011 for a five-week tour -- its first in six years -- but has only performed sporadically since then.
  • As for whether the band will ever record a new album, Howerdel told us not long ago that he doesn't see a full-length CD happening: "I like records. I still like records. I have great memories of having anticipation of hearing a whole album and ingesting it slowly and drinking it all in. To me, I have desires of making a record, but it just doesn't seem like people are interested. It just seems that everyone likes to digest things much quicker and have less patience."
  • A Perfect Circle's last album was eMOTIVe, a collection of political cover songs released around the time of the 2004 presidential election.
  • Meanwhile, Keenan returned to the Lollapalooza stage the following day (Sunday, March 31st) with his other band, Puscifer, to perform a 12-song set that was also professionally filmed and posted online.
  • During the show, Keenan poured a couple of glasses of wine at one point and coaxed Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder onstage for a drink.
  • Other bands that appeared at this year's Brazilian edition of Lollapalooza included Pearl Jam, Queens Of The Stone Age, the Flaming Lips, the Hives and the Black Keys. All that was missing was Tool for a Maynard James Keenan trifecta.
