Alice Cooper is eying a covers album which will pay tribute to his heroes from the 1960's. Cooper, who's in pre-production on the collection, is once again working with legendary producer Bob Ezrin, and told Rolling Stone, "I just kind of said, 'We've never done a covers album, let's think about that.' So Ezrin and I are kind of bouncing it around right now." He added that he's considering some of the classic tunes he's incorporated as part of his live show, including, the Beatles' "Revolution," the Who's "My Generation," and Jimi Hendrix's "Foxey Lady" -- with a possible cover of one by his early-1970's drinking buddy, the late Harry Nilsson. The album, which will be the followup to 2011's Welcome To My Nightmare 2, will probably be out in 2014.
Alice Cooper first met John Lennon shortly after the couple's infamous 1969 Bed-In's when they both performed at September 1969's Toronto Rock & Roll Revival Festival. Although they went on to become drinking buddies together later on in the mid-'70's in L.A., Alice recalls Lennon cutting a pretty intense figure at first sight: "Well, he was very driven by his political motivations at that time. He was a very cynical guy and at the same time very lovable. And he always went to: 'I'm gonna prove a point here.' The point was, 'I was just in the Beatles -- the biggest band of all time. Now I'm here with Yoko, who can't sing a lick, and yodels, and does all this stuff; I'm gonna prove to you I can make this work, too.'"
