An Australian woman has launched a campaign to have Ozzy Osbourne nominated for knighthood, according to the Birmingham Mail. Although Helen Maidiotis initially wanted to have all four members of Black Sabbath considered, she thought it was best to focus on getting one particular member knighted first. Having gotten 500 signatures so far, Maidiotis recently wrote, "Ozzy has been an inspiration to many great musicians over the last 40 years. He is a credit to his country and I believe that a knighthood for Ozzy is one well deserved and long overdue."

  • Maidiotis has created a Facebook page to support the campaign and posted the petition online for people to sign.
  • Ozzy told us a while back that that his life story is ultimately an inspiring one: "I come from a very low, working class family in Birmingham, England. I would sit on my doorstep thinking, 'Wouldn't it be great if Paul McCartney was to marry my sister, la la la, and all these daydreams that silly kids have. And what I say to a lot of people, they say what advice can you give me, and I go, 'I had a dream, and most of my dreams came true and more, you know.' You couldn't invent my story."
  • Ozzy and original Sabbath members Tony Iommi on guitar and Geezer Butler on bass are preparing to release their first album together in 35 years, tentatively titled 13.
  • The three originals are joined on the album by Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk, who may or may not tour with them as well. Founding drummer Bill Ward is sitting out the reunion over a contractual dispute.
  • 13 is expected out this June, with a North American tour to follow in July and August.
