EAGLES STUDIO ALBUMS BOX SET COMING NEXT MONTH

2/25/2013

On March 19th, the Eagles will release a box set containing their entire '70s catalogue. The set, called Studio Albums 1972-1979, will be a tie-in to the upcoming DVD release of the band's three-hour career spanning documentary, History Of The Eagles Parts 1 & 2. Studio Albums 1972-1979 consists of Eagles (1972), Desperado (1973), On The Border (1974), One Of These Nights (1975), Hotel California (1976), and The Long Run (1979). The box set is missing the last three Eagles albums -- 1980's Eagles Live, 1994's Hell Freezes Over, and 2007's Long Road Out Of Eden.

Over 40 years after the release of the Eagles' self-titled debut, Glenn Frey told us that he still has a bad taste in his mouth from recording with famed Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Who engineer-producer Glyn Johns: "I would say this; what disappoints me about the first two Eagles albums is that we didn't get to spend more time on 'em -- and that was Glyn Johns' responsibility. Actually, I think he was a little burned out from workin' with the Stones and waiting and waiting and waiting for Keith (Richards) to figure something out and not doing much. So, when he got us in the studio, he was pretty much a school marm. Y'know, we made the first Eagles record in two-and-a-half weeks, y'know, for 17-five."

The key tracks on the Eagles studio albums are:

  • Eagles(1972): "Take It Easy," "Witchy Woman," and "Peaceful, Easy Feeling."
  • Desperado(1973): "Desperado," "Doolin-Dalton," and "Tequila Sunrise."
  • On The Border(1974): "Already Gone," "James Dean," and "The Best Of My Love."
  • One Of These Nights(1975): "One Of These Nights," "Lyin' Eyes," and "Take It To The Limit."
  • Hotel California(1976): "Hotel California," "New Kid In Town," "Victim Of Love," and "Life In The Fast Lane."
  • The Long Run (1979): "The Long Run," "Heartache Tonight," and "I Can't Tell You Why."
