Guitarist Jimmie Vaughn, the older brother of the late-Stevie Ray Vaughn and a co-founder of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, has been hospitalized following a heart attack. Vintage Vinyl News reported that the 61-year-old Vaughn was gearing up for a trip to Mumbai to perform at the annual Mahindra Blues Festival, when he took ill.
A statement regarding his health was posted on the festival's site, saying: "Jimmie Vaughan was admitted to Pomona Hospital Medical Center on January 23rd, 2013 with an acute myocardial infraction [sic] (Heart Attack). He had a coronary angioplasty and stent placement. He is still in the hospital but recovering and has been advised by his cardiologist to rest at home for a month. He regretfully had to cancel a scheduled trip to the Mahindra Blues Festival in Mumbai, India as a result."
