French alternative act Phoenix has confirmed that Bankrupt! will be the title of its new album, according to Billboard. The band's fifth studio effort is due out this spring and will follow up 2009's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. The group unveiled the album on Thursday (January 17th) after a bright red logo featuring the word "bankrupt" appeared on the group's official website. The logo was accompanied by a synthesizer beat that may or may not be a snippet from a new song.

  • Phoenix has also announced its first U.S. date in support of the new disc, at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which runs from April 26th to May 5th. Other acts appearing at Jazzfest include the Black Keys, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Frank Ocean and hundreds more.
  • Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix won the 2010 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album, and featured the hit singles "1901" and "Lisztomania."

Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars is the domestic partner of Oscar-nominated director Sofia Coppola. The couple have two children.
