Tracks from the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan lead the soundtrack of Not Fade Away, an upcoming film set in the 1960s about a young rock band from New Jersey trying to make it big. The movie is written and directed by David Chase, best known for creating the now-classic HBO series The Sopranos. The soundtrack has been compiled by the film's executive music producer, Steven Van Zandt of the E Street Band, who also performs several songs on the soundtrack with fellow E Streeters Max Weinberg and Gary Tallent under the name The Twylight Zones.

• Van Zandt, who played Silvio Dante for Chase on The Sopranos, said in a statement, "Helping David realize his vision was one of the most satisfying projects of my life. Watching these young actors meet every challenge we threw at them was also quite inspiring."
• Two of the film's young stars, John Magaro and Jack Huston, performed the fictional band's songs themselves in the movie and on the soundtrack.
• Other artists featured on the soundtrack include Bo Diddley, the Sex Pistols, James Brown, the Rascals, Van Morrison, Robert Johnson, Elmore James and more.
• The soundtrack will be released digitally via iTunes and all other online stores on December 18th, with the movie arriving in theaters on December 21st.
