There's good news for Van Halen fans -- Japanese ones, anyway. According to Pollstar, the band has rescheduled its postponed shows in Japan, playing in Tokyo on June 21st and Osaka on June 24th and 26th. Tickets purchased for the original dates will be honored. Van Halen had originally planned to play Japan in late November but was forced to postpone the shows after guitarist Eddie Van Halen underwent surgery in August for diverticulitis, a digestive track disorder that inflames the colon.

  • Van Halen put all its tour plans on hold, including North American dates this past summer, due to exhaustion on the part of the band.
  • But in August the group faced a new challenge when Eddie was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery related to his diverticulitis.
  • The surgery required a recovery period of four to six months, further extending the band's hiatus. Van Halen had been on the road behind A Different Kind Of Truth, its first album in 14 years and first with original singer David Lee Roth since 1984.
  • There's no word yet on when or if Van Halen plans to reschedule the rest of its postponed dates, including the North American run.
  • Eddie's son, Van Halen bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, has been touring this fall as part of Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti's solo band.

  • Do you think we'll see Van Halen back on the road after the New Year rolls around?
  • Is it possible that Eddie is not strong enough these days to complete a full touring schedule?
  • Can the band regain the momentum it had after stopping the tour last spring?
