  • Blabbermouth reports former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach and model girlfriend Minnie Gupta have broken off their engagement. The couple began dating in 2010, shortly after Bach split up with Maria Bierk, his wife of 18 years with whom he had been coupled since before joining his former band.  In a message on, a related Twitter site that allows one to send tweets that require more than 140 characters, Sebastian wrote, "After almost two years together, Minnie Gupta and myself have decided to go our separate ways."  He added, "I will always be grateful for our time together and I will always have love in my heart for Minnie. I cannot thank her enough for her companionship, love, and inspiration... I wish Minnie nothing but the best in life, because that's what she deserves. She is a truly special girl and I am so very lucky to have known her. Until we meet again..."  Bach met Gupta during the making of his latest solo album, 2011's "Kicking & Screaming". He told Noisecreep last year: "If you saw how beautiful she is, it's just unbelievable. I was in love making this record. I was going through breaking up and I fell in love again and a lot of these emotions are on the record. Love. That's the most important thing in life really, as I get older — love."

  • Blabbermouth posts Andrew Klein, co-author of the new book about legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads, simply entitled "Randy Rhoads", Randy's fiancée Jodi Raskin-Vigier and close friend Lori Hollen will guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" with host Bob Coburn on Wednesday, December 5 at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to speak with the guests by calling 1-800-344-ROCK(7625). The show will be streamed on the "Rockline" web site for two weeks beginning the afternoon after the live broadcast.  For more information, visit  Before his tragic death at the age of 25, Randy Rhoads was on a fast track to being hailed by critics and public alike as the greatest rock guitar player of all time. Over a short two-year period, Randy recorded two seminal multi-platinum albums with Ozzy Osbourne, which are heralded today as among the most noteworthy recordings in hard rock music history. Through his jaw-dropping six-string work on songs such as "Crazy Train", "Mr. Crowley" and "Flying High Again", Randy Rhoads achieved legendary status as a guitar icon and his artistic legacy continues to grow with each passing year.  A brilliant guitar virtuoso, Randy's masterful ability of bridging rock and classical techniques helped him forge a groundbreaking style of guitar playing. In 1981, Guitar Player magazine honored Randy by selecting him as best new talent of the year. Humble and self-effacing, Randy refused to rest on his laurels. Instead, being bestowed with this prestigious award motivated him to strive for greater creative heights. Tragically, Randy's life ended much too soon when on the morning of March 19, 1982 he was killed in a small private plane that careened into the garage of a plantation home in Leesburg, Florida.  Randy Rhoads' ascendancy to super-stardom was inevitable. Tirelessly honing his craft, he was a devoted student of his instrument, endlessly practicing and perfecting his skills. His days were spent as a guitar teacher and by night he solidified his rising reputation as the "next big thing" on the Hollywood club scene. His big break arrived when he assumed the lead guitar slot in Ozzy Osbourne's solo band. Soon the entire music world would be dazzled by his spectacular flights of fiery fretboard sizzle, swiftly recognizing the merits of this burgeoning guitar genius.  With his dynamic six-string wizardry, Randy Rhoads invented an exciting and technically advanced style of explosive hard rock guitar playing that dominated the '80s music scene. Decades later, his massive influence continues to shape, educate and inspire first, second and third generation players and music fans that marvel at his extraordinary musicality and stunning instrumental prowess. Today, Randy's legendary status as a guitar hero is assured, joining the pantheon of rock's Mt. Olympus where he stands proudly alongside such revered guitar heroes as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and Ritchie Blackmore.  No one-trick pony, Randy was well versed in a multitude of musical genres seamlessly cross-navigating rock, blues and classical. In fact, his immense love of classical music continued to be a driving force in his life. Until his untimely death, he continued to take classical guitar lessons in an effort to break new ground as a player.  Today, mythologized and immortalized, Randy Rhoads has become a veritable pop culture institution. Paying homage to his pioneering ability, Marshall Amplifiers created a custom amplifier that bears Randy's name and signature sound. Action figures and sculptures with Randy's likeness have become highly sought after collector's items, while Jackson Guitars have sold millions of Randy Rhoads model guitars, pleasing the late guitarist's loyal legion of dedicated followers. His image graces innumerable music magazine covers annually.  Finally, after years of anticipation, comes the release of "Randy Rhoads", a biography written by Steven Rosen and Andrew Klein, which vividly documents Randy's life and career. Teeming with hundreds of rare photographs and memorabilia, the book chronicles an oral history of Randy's remarkable life through those who knew him best. Packed with countless emotional and poignant stories about the guitar icon, the book weaves a powerful tapestry of colorful memories about his life, which help provide deeper insight into Randy, the man, the myth, the legend. His life is a lasting testament to his supernatural talent and quiet humility.  "Randy Rhoads" is available from Velocity Publishing Group.

104.1 The Blaze radio Interview with Andrew Klein:

  • Blabbermouth reports the mother of the late THIN LIZZY frontman Phil Lynott recently spoke to the BBC about her son's life.  Philomena, 81, said she missed the signs of serious drug abuse in her son. Phil Lynott died in 1986 at the age of 36.  "They didn’t want me there when he passed because they figured I'd lose my reason, which I did," she said. "When he died, I died for five years. I think it'd a dreadful waste but what can you do? What will be will be."  She added, "I listen to his music every single day. I also visit his resting place every day because it's only round the corner from my house. I go around and I pour water on his stone — I call it washing his face — and then when I'm leaving, I give him a kick.. for breaking my heart."  You can listen to audio of Philomena talking about Phil using the SoundCloudplayer below.

  • Blabbermouth reports PROJECTED, the new project featuring SEVENDUST members John Connolly (guitar) and Vince Hornsby (bass) alongside ALTER BRIDGE/CREED drummer Scott Phillips and guitarist/vocalist Eric "Erock" Friedman (a.k.a. Erock; TREMONTI), will guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" with host Bob Coburn on Monday, October 22 at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to speak with PROJECTED by calling 1-800-344-ROCK (7625). The show will be streamed on the "Rockline" web site for two weeks beginning the afternoon after the live broadcast.  For more information, visit  What started out as a fun side-project for Connolly and Hornsby, Phillips, and Friedman has become PROJECTED. The band's debut album, "Human", was released September 18 on Connolly's own Yaya Papu LLC label.  Produced by Connolly and Elvis Baskette (ALTER BRIDGE, PUDDLE OF MUDD), the majority of the album's music and vocals were recorded at Studio 1119, Connolly's studio in his home office ("when it's not being used by his wife to pay the bills or his daughter to play Webkins," he jokes).  "The idea behind this project originally started as nothing more than a group of us who were friends already, going into the studio to just record some tunes we had laying around and basically just have a good time with it," explained Connolly. "No pressure from labels or any pre-conceived notions or expectations. Just making music and having a good time. 'Human' is the end result of us working without deadlines or budget constraints…or a budget at all."  "John, Vinny, Eric, and I have shared many miles and many stages together over previous years," explained Scott Phillips. "We've always talked about collaborating and now it's finally come to fruition. I might possibly be one of the biggest SEVENDUST fans ever, and to get the opportunity to work with a few of my favorite musicians on the planet, and some of my best friends, means the world to me. We wholeheartedly believe in these songs...believe in John's vision... and couldn't be happier about the future of PROJECTED!"  Throughout the album, PROJECTED serves up a healthy dose of the heavy with songs such as "Alive" and "Breaking Me". The listener can't help but hear the SEVENDUST influences in "Alive", with Hornsby providing the down-tuned bass tones while Friedman gives the song originality with eccentric guitar riffs. And on "Bring You Back", SEVENDUST singer Lajon Witherspoon makes a special appearance on vocals.  "12804" is one of the more personal and emotional songs on the album. To Connolly, this is one of the most prominent tracks due to the lyrical content, which pays tribute to the late "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, whose life was tragically taken on December 8, 2004. In "12804", the listener can hear the sorrow in Connolly's voice and lyrics as he sings: "Somewhere there's another all in for the other…Two can breathe forever…Nowhere there's another life into the after…Two can live forever."

  • Blabbermouth reports female vocalist Pamela Moore, who is best known for her performane as Sister Mary on QUEENSRŸCHE's 1988 epic release "Operation: Mindcrime" and 2006's sequel "Operation: Mindcrime II", will join the Todd La Torre-fronted version of QUEENSRŸCHE on stage on October 27 at the Snoqualmie Casino in Snoqualmie, Washington.  Commented the group: "[Pamela] is considered family to the band, part of QUEENSRŸCHE's legacy and has won the hearts of the amazing QUEENSRŸCHE fans. It is our privilege to share the stage with her once again!"  Singer Geoff Tate, who was fired from QUEENSRŸCHE in June after fronting the group for three decades, recently sought to prevent his former bandmates from touring and operating under the QUEENSRŸCHE name without him. While ruling against Tate, the presiding judge determined that there was no legal hurdle in Tate also using the name with an all-new lineup of musicians. "I don't see any reason that Mr. Tate can't have the benefit, if he gets other members, of whatever name he uses of using the brand," Superior Court Judge Carol A. Schapira said during the July 13 court hearing. "I think [doing that would be] inherently confusing, although I'm sure the market can get these things sorted out," she added.  On September 2, Tate announced that he was launching his own version of QUEENSRŸCHE with RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer, former QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE and WHITESNAKE bassist Rudy Sarzo and former MEGADETH and KING DIAMOND guitarist Glen Drover. Also on board in the new group are returning QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Kelly Gray — who played with the band from 1998 until 2001 and also produced several of their albums — and keyboardist Randy Gane, who has toured and recorded with QUEENSRŸCHE and Geoff's solo group in the past.

  • Blabbermouth reports according to, NIGHTWISH has declined all interview requests in the wake of the band's split with singer Anette Olzon at the end of last month in the middle of the group's North American headlining tour. NIGHTWISH keyboardist/mainman Tuomas Holopainen told the web site in an e-mail, "We are not doing any interviews at the moment, The press release that was issued [announcing Anette's departure] covers all the essentials." Drummer Jukka Nevalainen added in a separate message, "We are concentrating fully on the tour right now. So no comments at this time. I'm sorry."  Dutch vocalist Floor Jansen (REVAMP, ex-AFTER FOREVER) made her live debut as the frontwoman of NIGHTWISH on October 1 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington.  In a blog post on her official web site at, Floor said, "It is now 10 years ago I joined NIGHTWISH on tour with AFTER FOREVER as their support act. We stayed in touch ever since and that made the whole situation so much easier and smooth."  Olzon joined NIGHTWISH in 2007 as the replacement for Tarja Turunen after the latter was fired in 2005.  NIGHTWISH stated about the sudden singer switch, "In recent times it has become increasingly obvious that the direction and the needs of the band were in conflict, and this has led to a division from which we cannot recover."  They added, "We are all strongly committed to this journey, this vehicle of spirit, and we are sure that this will lead to a brighter future for everyone.  "We forever remain excited about the adventures to come, and we are extremely proud of the two beautiful albums and the wonderful shows we shared together."  Fan-filmed video footage of NIGHTWISH's October 5 performance at The Grove Of Anaheim in Anaheim, California can be seen below.

  • Blabbermouth reports the bus BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME and PERIPHERY were sharing while on the road in Europe caught fire this morning in England. There are no injuries and no equipment was damaged. There is no effect on the two bands' tour.   Commened tour manager Courtney Warner: "As of now, we are at a service area awaiting transportation to a hotel. A new bus is on its way. We shouldn't miss any shows because of this. All gear, luggage, personal items and most importantly, people, are all good. We just stink like smoke."  Added BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME guitarist Paul Waggoner: "Fuel line done broke. Dadgum flame come shootin out. Peeewwww eeehhhhh sometin' stank. Crazy British feller come hollerin, 'Bus on fire, ya'll git.' Climb up the ol' hill barefoot and look back at them flames shootin sky high. Firemen folk come rushin up real quick like and squirt that fire plum out. It was lucky nobody was hurt, not even a stubbed toe. Luggage stank like a Mississippi cow pie on a mid july heat. Hopefull, come tomorra, a new horse n' buggy come. We'll giddy on up to Belgium town for a good ol' fashioned hootnanny. Whoo-Doggies!!!"  Stated PERIPERHY guitarist Misha Mansoor: "Shortly after we left Southampton early this morning, our bus caught fire on the freeway. Thanks to Paul, our awesome driver, and Jake noticing something being wrong, as well as the incredibly fast response of the fire service in the U.K., none of us were harmed and it looks like all our stuff is okay, too. If all goes well, this should not affect the tour overall. We have a lot to be thankful for even though it was a hell of a scary way to wake up haha!"  Said PERIPHERY soundman Alex Markides: "So our bus caught fire at 6 a.m. Not a fun way to wake up to inhaling smoke in my bunk, a burning bus and a bunch of half naked dudes sitting in the freezing weather. Everyone is fine and gear is OK. Everything we own tho smells like absolute shit... Thanks to the response team for being there in less than 4 minutes. Without them, I think there could have been wayyyy more damage and lots of valuables would have been lost."  Read more at Loudwire

  • Blabbermouth reports German power metallers HELLOWEEN will release their new album, "Straight Out Of Hell", on January 18, 2013. The CD was once again helmed by the band's longtime producer Charlie Bauerfeind at HELLOWEEN singer Andi Deris's Mi Sueño Studios in Tenerife, Spain.   According to HELLOWEEN, "Straight Out Of Hell" will feature "13 mostly fast-paced songs — impressively multi-layered due to their different songwriters."  Commented guitarist Michael Weikath:" 'Straight Out Of Hell' is the consequent development of the two albums before.  "The new songs are a continuation of the '7 Sinners' directives, only less doom-bound and noticeably more positive. These songs will kick even the laziest listener's ass."  The best example of HELLOWEEN's ability to think outside the box of metal cliché is the first single from "Straight Out Of Hell", a song called "Nabataea". The legendary kingdom and its secret capital Petra — hidden behind cliff scenery and only discovered at the beginning of the 20th century — are the origin of many myths and legends. "Nabataea" is the perfect shape of great music to come and will deliver an epic video clip, yet to be shot.   Apart from the standard album, there will be a limited edition featuring premium packaging and two bonus tracks: "Another Shot Of Life" and a Hammond version of "Burning Sun" in memory of DEEP PURPLE's recently deceased organ player Jon Lord.
"Straight Out Of Hell" track listing:
    01. Nabataea (7:03) 02. World Of War (4:56) 03. Live Now! (3:10) 04. Far From The Stars (4:41) 05. Burning Sun (5:33) 06. Waiting For The Thunder (3:53) 07. Hold Me In Your Arms (5:10) 08. Wanna Be God (2:02) 09. Straight Out Of Hell (4:33) 10. Asshole (4:09) 11. Years (4:22) 12. Make Fire Catch The Fly (4:22) 13. Church Breaks Down (6:06)
    Bonus tracks (limited edition):
    14. Another Shot Of Life 15. Burning Sun (Hammond version) (dedicated to Jon Lord)
HELLOWEEN previously promised that its new new album would be "much more than a fine follow-up to the highly acclaimed 'Gambling With The Devil' and '7 Sinners' albums. Bombastic epic pieces have been worked on as well as ultrafast heavy songs and mid-tempo anthems."  HELLOWEEN will join forces with GAMMA RAY for the "Hellish Rock Part II" tour starting in March.
"7 Sinners", the 13th studio album from HELLOWEEN, sold around 1,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 7 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
