OZZY OSBOURNE WANTS SON TO GET SECOND OPINION ON DISEASE

6/20/2012

Ozzy Osbourne wants his son Jack to get a second opinion following Jack being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis -- because Ozzy himself was once thought to have the disease by doctors, which turned out to be wrong. Jack recently consulted medical personnel after experiencing blurred eyesight and headaches, and was informed he has MS just two weeks after he and his fiancee welcomed their daughter Pearl.

But Ozzy told England's Hello! magazine, "I want Jack to go for a second opinion as I was misdiagnosed with MS a few years ago -- it took them six months to work out that I have a rare hereditary tremor, called Parkin Syndrome."

  • Jack revealed that there is some family history with MS, saying, "Mum took it really quite hard; my uncle on her side has MS and, the way my mum is, she thinks that somehow it's her fault. Both my parents were handling it way worse than I was; they were pretty shaken up about the whole thing."
  • Jack's mother, Sharon, told Hello!, "I keep thinking, 'What did I do wrong? What did I eat or drink when I was pregnant? I feel like it's somehow my fault."
  • Ozzy added, "If it was me, you'd think: 'Ozzy had a reputation and it caught up with him.' But Jack is such a good guy."
  • MS affects the central nervous system and can cause problems with muscle control and strength, vision, balance, feeling, and thinking. The disease affects people differently in each case, with some people having only minor problems, while others become seriously disabled.

WHAT DO YOU THINK??

  • Do you agree with Ozzy that Jack should get a second opinion?
  • Do you think that there's any chance of Jack being predisposed to a disease like this, because of his family history?
  • Do you know anyone with MS? How has it affected their lives?

Brostman wrote: "I think Jack's gonna be just fine. He has a lot to live for, the ability to succeed and a supportive family who cares for him. Hopefully he doesn't have to endure blindness and paralysis when all is said and done."

Joshkorn wrote: "unfortunately he probably will endure paralysis. Just give it 10-30 years. The good news is that he's got money, support and can afford the best medicine available to him. To add to that, a fiancee and a baby. Those two things (people, technically) are of most importance, in the end."
