JACK WHITE COULD LAND FIRST CAREER NUMBER ONE WITH SOLO DEBUT

4/27/2012

Former White Stripes singer/guitarist Jack White could be on track to land his first Number One album ever, according to Billboard.com. White's solo debut, Blunderbuss, is expected to sell between 100,000 and 120,000 copies in its first week of release, which would be enough to place the disc at the top of the Billboard200 album chart next Wednesday (May 2nd). The album arrived this past Tuesday (April 24th) through White's own imprint, Third Man Records.

  • Although White has played on seven Top 10 albums with the White Stripes, the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather, a chart-topper has eluded him.
  • The closest he's ever come was the White Stripes' final studio effort, 2007's Icky Thump, which debuted at Number Two on the chart.
  • It was also announced earlier this week that White will score the upcoming Western action/adventure film The Lone Ranger. The film, due out on May 31st, 2013, stars Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the title character. This will be the first film score ever written and performed by White.
  • White will perform in New York City this Friday (April 27th) and Los Angeles next Monday (April 30th), before beginning a tour on May 15th in Nashville.

CHECK IT OUT: White is doing a live webcast at 9:00 p.m. ET on Friday night from New York City's Webster Hall, which will be streamed through VEVO and YouTube. The live webcast will be directed by legendary British actor Gary Oldman. Watch the two horsing around in this teaser clip:
