RICHIE SAMBORA OFF BON JOVI TOUR AGAIN

4/4/2013

Richie Sambora has reportedly walked off the Bon Jovi tour. Although Sambora's substance abuse problems forced him off the road during the band's 2011 tour, according to insiders, this time it's due to deep seated issues with frontman, Jon Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi kicked off its latest string of dates on April 2nd at Calgary's Scotiabank Saddledome, where Sambora was allegedly a no-show. According to TMZ, Bon Jovi explained Sambora's absence by telling the crowd: "I had two choices: pack up and go home or give you everything I got. . . Richie Sambora won't be performing for a while. If there's ever a night I need you, it's tonight, Calgary!"

Inside sources "directly connected to Bon Jovi" told TMZ: "Tensions between Jon and Richie have been running high for years and it's finally erupted. One source tells us, "It's a classic (Mick) Jagger/(Keith) Richards blowup." Sambora supposedly has a problem with the way Bon Jovi belittles him and that the pair are fighting over money, but is hopeful that the two can mend fences before the tour hits L.A. on April 19th.

  • The Calgary Herald reported as a compensation for Sambora's absence, the band made a donation of $100,000 to the Calgary Homeless Foundation.
  • The band's official site, BonJovi.com, posted two messages yesterday (April 3rd) stating: "Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled" along with ". . . Ticket purchasers need not worry, all upcoming shows will go on as scheduled. Any ticket purchaser who would like a refund can do so before show time."
  • Yesterday (on April 3rd) Richie Sambora tweeted a message to fans saying: "Thank you everyone for your concern. I'm well, but had to stay in LA to take care of a personal matter. Love you all and see you very soon."

JUST OUR OPINION

  • First of all -- the situation between Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora is NOTHING like that of Mick Jagger & Keith Richards. Mick and Keith are FULL PARTNERS in the Rolling Stones. Not the case with Jon Bon Jovi -- who owns the brand "Bon Jovi" and is the only artist signed to the record label.
  • Whatever you think of Jon Bon Jovi -- he's as dependable as steel. This guy books a tour, he makes the dates and is as fit and happy to be there the last week of a 15-month tour as he was opening night. He says he's gonna show up for work and he does. Promoters remember that. If the band had to quit a tour every time Sambora hasn't been able to play -- whatever the reason -- the band -- and hundreds of workers -- would lose millions upon millions of dollars.
  • Two more instances on why Bon Jovi and Sambora are NOTHING like Jagger/Richards -- A) Jagger would never front a Rolling Stones show or tour without Keith onstage and B) Keith Richards has never been too loaded to make a gig.
  • The deal is this, Richie Sambora is a GLORIOUSLY wealthy hired hand. A great guitarist and an above average songwriter. This band will still sell out stadiums without him. If he's got issues with Bon Jovi, well, this is the type of stuff you deal with within the first few years of a band. EVERYBODY who knows ANYTHING knows that Bon Jovi has NEVER been this "band of brothers" that Circus sold them as back in '86.
