OFFSPRING DELIVERS MESSAGE OF HOPE WITH 'DAYS GO BY'

7/25/2012

The Offspring released their ninth studio album, Days Go By, at the end of last month, with the title track immediately becoming a Top 10 hit at both Active and Modern Rock radio -- the group's 15th single to do so. Frontman Dexter Holland told us what the band set out to do with the song: "The idea of 'Days Go By' is that everyone goes through tough times from time to time. Just me, looking around, I've noticed that this seems to be one of those times for a lot of people. It was the kind of thing where 'Days Go By' is almost like saying, 'This too shall pass,' and it just felt like a message that really needed to be said right now."

  • The California punk rockers last issued new music in 2008 with Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace, and previously left a five-year gap between that effort and its predecessor, 2003's Splinter.
  • The Offspring are playing scattered festivals and headlining shows in Canada, the U.S. and Europe for the rest of the summer, including a headlining slot at the Sunset Strip Music Festivalin Los Angeles in late August.
  • A full headlining North American tour, with support from Dead Sara and Neon Trees, begins on August 31st in Detroit.
