JACK WHITE CONFIRMS RADIOHEAD RECORDED AT HIS STUDIO

7/6/2012

After Radiohead hinted during its Bonnaroo performance last month that the band had something brewing with Jack White, the former White Stripes frontman confirmed to BBC Radio Six that the British group recently spent some time recording at his Third Man studio complex in Nashville. According to Rolling Stone, White said, "I don't know how much to tell about it except that I didn't play with them or produce it. But they came and recorded at Third Man. I don't know what else they want to be said about that, so that's all I probably can say!"

  • Rumors of a Radiohead/White collaboration of some kind began circulating after Radiohead singer Thom Yorke dedicated the song "Supercollider" to White at Bonnaroo, saying, "This song is for Jack White. We're not gonna tell you why, but you'll find out."
  • Even if White didn't actually work with the group during its sessions, there is still the possibility that whatever Radiohead recorded could come out through White's Third Man record label.
  • The band's choice to record at Third Man is an interesting one, since White prefers to record live to tape while Radiohead has gone further and further into experimenting with studio technology and electronics.
  • A number of artists have stopped by White's place to lay down some music, including Beck, who recorded a a limited edition single there a few months ago called "I Just Started Hating Some People Today."
  • Radiohead will return to the road next Tuesday (July 10th) after recovering from a stage collapse last month that killed the band's drum tech.
  • Jack White plays in Denmark on Friday (July 6th) before heading to Japan and Australia later this month. He'll return to the States for Lollapalooza in early August.

WHAT DO YOU THINK??

  • Would you like to hear a Jack White/Radiohead collaboration?
  • Doesn't it seem strange that a heavily electronic band like Radiohead would want to record in a relatively lo-fi environment like White's studio?
  • Should Radiohead dump all the electronics and loops and focus on being a guitar-based band again?
