PUDDLE OF MUDD FRONTMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO COCAINE CHARGE

7/6/2012

Puddle Of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin pleaded guilty on Tuesday (July 3rd) to a felony cocaine possession charge, according to E! News. The charge stemmed from an arrest last January when Scantlin was pulled over by police in the Culver City section of Los Angeles. In exchange for his guilty plea, two misdemeanor charges against Scantlin -- driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving without a license -- were dropped. The singer/guitarist will also avoid jail time but must complete a drug counseling program within 18 months.

  • Although he does not have to appear in court, Scantlin must show proof of enrollment in the drug program by August 8th. The district attorney's office says if he completes the program, the possession charge could be dropped.
  • Scantlin appeared in court last month to finalize his divorce from wife Jessica Nicole Smith, agreeing to pay $2,500 a month in alimony.
  • It was also revealed late last year that Scantlin owed more than $60,000 in federal and state back taxes.
  • Puddle Of Mudd is scheduled to play several festival gigs this summer.

WHAT DO YOU THINK??

  • Divorce, drug arrest, back taxes -- can Wes Scantlin get his life together and get his career back on track?
  • Is this all par for the course for being a rock 'n' roller?
  • What's the worst situation or combination of problems you ever had to deal with in your life at the same time?
