AEROSMITH PUSHES BACK NEW ALBUM TO NOVEMBER

6/27/2012

Aerosmith has pushed back the release date of its new album, Music From Another Dimension, to sometime in November from its original date of August 28th, according to Q1043.com. No reason has been given for the delay, but one possibility could be that singer Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry did not finish the mixing process before Aerosmith left on its current tour with Cheap Trick.

  • All the recording has been completed for the disc, which will be Aerosmith's first set of all-new material since 2001's Just Push Play.
  • Bassist Tom Hamilton told us why he felt it was important for Aerosmith to make a new album again: "I've been waiting for this for so long, because I so want to be known as a band that is still firing on all cylinders. We could go out and work every year and just play, you know, all our same old songs year after year, but it would have been a very uneasy feeling to me to think about not ever having an album of new material out."
  • The first song to be heard from the album, "Legendary Child," is a reworked version of a track originally written during the sessions for 1993's Get A Grip.
  • The track will also be included in the upcoming film G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which was supposed to come out this Friday (June 29th) but has now been pushed back to March 2013.
  • Aerosmith began work on Music From Another Dimension last year, with the band laying down music tracks while Tyler made his debut as a judge on American Idol.
  • The veteran act's current road trip brings it to Toronto on Wednesday night (June 27th) and ends in early August.

WHAT DO YOU THINK??

  • Aerosmith has taken so long to make this album -- does another three months matter?
  • Do you think there's something wrong with the album? Maybe they don't feel confident enough in it and need to add a song or two?
