A massive two-volume biography of Metallica has been acquired for publication in the U.S. by Da Capo Press, which has published recent memoirs by Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor. The books, titled Birth School Metallica Death, will arrive in the fall of 2013 and 2014. The first volume will cover Metallica's formative years, its early albums, its first mainstream success and the transformation of the band into superstars. The second book will chronicle the group's continued success, its later tours, and the challenges it faced during the past decade or so. The books are being written by Paul Brannigan and Ian Winwood, who conducted 75 hours of rare interviews for the project. (Blabbermouth) Read more at Loudwire and Noisecreep
