Today, David Florig, the Executive Director of WePac was in to discuss the library situation in the Philadelphia School System. Right now there are only 12 state paid libraries open at elementary schools in Philly, 28 over all. There are 150 schools in Philly. Adrienne Whaley, The Curator of Education and Public Programming at The African American Museum in Philly, stopped by to talk about African American History Month and it's ties to Philadelphia. Philadelphia was a major player in the underground railroad, getting slaves to freedom from the south. Public Affairs - Mummers 2013

Every year, the last Public Affairs show of the year is The Mummers Edition. Along with WMMR's own Mummer, Jacky Bam Bam, this year we had AJ Ford from the Champion Woodland String Band and Matt Leighton, whose family is synonymous with the Mummers, is a member of the Golden Sunrise Club and will be competing in the Fancies.
