This week I had the pleasure of speaking with Mick Czaky, Gayle Wald and Anthony Heilbut in regards to the PBS Special, American Masters Series: Rosetta Tharpe The Godmother Of Rock N Roll, which will be airing Friday February 22nd at 9pm on PBS. Mick Czacky wrote, directed and produced the PBS special. Gayle Ward is the author of Shout, Sister, Shout! The Untold Story of Rock-and-Roll Trailblazer Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Anthony Heilbut is a personal friend of Sister Rosettas and was going to record with her. Sister Rosetta Tharpe was 20 years ahead of her time. Yesterday I had the chance to chat with Billy Howerdel about A Perfect Circle. We talked about By and Down, the box set that is available on November 27th, as well as what is going on with Ashes Divide, A New Perfect Circle record as well as some personal information. Today, I had a chance to speak with Ray Davies about his new book, Americana, which is a Fantastic Read. The book starts with him being shot in New Orleans and continues to travel back and forth all the way through sharing many stories that make for an incredible book. The use of lyrics in the book tie in beautifully and reading some of the great stories about the Kinks was a blast. I laughed out loud many times and definitely went through a full gamut of of emotions while reading Americana. It is available now here. Besides the writing of the book and the process we discussed some aspects and stories without giving too much away, yet hopefully enticing you to want to read about Ray Davies' fascinating journey through life and his Americana tales. This weekend, Lisa Hanover, The CEO/Director of the James A Michener Museum in Doylestown, stopped by the WMMR studios to discuss From Philadelphia To Monaco: Beyond Grace Kelly The Icon.
