John & Brittany - Gas Mask Queen
Posted 5/8/2013 6:45:00 PM

Our good friends John & Brittany are this month's featured Local Shots artists! No strangers to MMR, the duo has joined us for several celebratory occasions, including the recent Silvertide reunion and Mistletoe Jam. Today we played a track called "Gas Mask Queen" off their rollercoaster of a rock n' roll record, Start Sinning. Highly recommended for fans of punk, new wave, and well-crafted mellifluous tunes. The Local Shots showcase is on a Wednesday this month, 5/15, and will feature the world premiere of John & Brittany's video for "Paper Planes" [event details HERE and on the Artist of the Month Page]. Follow them on Facebook and YouTube for more!

Here's 3 reasons we like Ruby The Hatchet: swirling riffs, haunting vocals, psychedelic jams. What more could you want? Hear the track "Paralyzed" on today's Local Shots Podcast- it's off their new Eliminator EP which is available on a variety of mediums, including vinyl and cassette. See them at North Star Bar on Friday May 9th (info here) and hear more at RubyTheHatchet.com.

Mo Lowda & The Humble is one of the coolest band names we've seen to date, which is why they are April's Local Shots Artist of the Month! ...Kidding- though the name is groovy, the music is a way better reason to check these guys out. The Temple U. trio gained a lot of traction after the release of their first full-length record Curse The Weather, building upon their established reputation as one of the best alt-rock bands in the city. Today we played the track "The Way Home"; stream it now, and get show dates plus a whole lot more on the Artist of the Month page.

Tunage on the Local Shots Podcast is brought to you today by Goodnight Lights! This song, which has an excellent 90s-fuzz vibe, is called "Convinced" and it'll be included on their upcoming EP - keep an eye on goodnight-lights.com for more info on that release. Check out the brand spankin' new video for the track below. Their next show is this Friday at The Fire; get details HERE.
