Overcoming Gravity

Overcoming Gravity was formed in 2013 with a powerhouse lineup. The name comes from a lyric in a Red Hot Chili Peppers song (Aeroplane), which is a mutual favorite amongst members of the band. The band is fronted by Phil La Placa, formerly of Even The Res with Saul Dratman, formerly of Give Me Gravity, on drums and Max Barruzza of Yeah Son! on bass.

La Placa, who is no stranger to the music industry (opening countless shows with national-act bands like Atreyu, Linkin Park, Chris Cornell on Projekt Revolution '09 as well as Sick Puppies and All Time Low) has been spun on FM radio in regular rotation, as well as some work with MTV.

Overcoming Gravity has been recording a brand new album at 816 Studios in New Jersey with producer, Pat Noon. After meeting Dratman via a mutual friend, the two started a long-time friendship. Dratman, who has been learning the ins and outs of the music industry for over a decade, left a previous project and La Placa said "It's about time we start a band". This is when the magic began. A few months down the line, Max Barruzza joined the band on stage to fill in and the decision was made then and there to make him a permanent member. OCG join forces to take the music industry by storm.

Overcoming Gravity's current single, Her Name, has been spun, broadcasted and exhibited to the masses on a regional level in numerous formats, whether live or or on a produced level. The demand for the song, a hit amongst countless fan favorites, only continues to grow.
