How much do you love Nirvana?
That’s the question being posed to fans of the band in California, Seattle and New York, who will have the chance to get a free tattoo of the group's "Smiley Face" logo later this month, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
For the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s third and final studio album In Utero, the band has announced a special remastered reissue of the LP, which will be available in several formats, including Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions with never-before-heard material, rare B-sides, alternative mixes and more.
Along with the re-release comes a live DVD of Nirvana’s performance at Seattle’s Pier 48 in December of 1993, which features rare footage of the band’s final lineup of Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl and Pat Smear. Entitled Live and Loud, the concert film will also be available for independent purchase.
Upon the release of Nirvana: In Utero 20th Anniversary on September 24, fans that purchase any of the different versions of the album or one of the live DVDs will be eligible for a free tattoo at Fingerprints in Long Beach, CA, Looney Tunes in West Babylon, NY or at Silver Platters in Seattle, WA, available on a first-come-first-serve basis for eight hours.
The Hollywood Reporter states that tattoos will only be offered in black to those 21 or over, with restrictions on body placement as well.
