It seems like Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger will no longer have to “wonder what it feels like to find the one in this life, the one we all dream of.”
The “Gotta Be Somebody” singer is set to marry his longtime fiancé, singer Avril Lavigne, tonight in Cannes, a city in the south of France.
E! News reports that the Canadian couple’s three-day wedding event began Saturday, but the actual wedding ceremony will take place on Monday, July 1.
“[Avril] picked Cannes because she’s spent significant time in Paris in the past few years and summered in places like St. Tropez,” an unnamed source told E! News. “She’s very immersed in French food, ambiance and culture. It’s her favorite place to be.”
Lavigne also spoke about the wedding to E! News herself, saying, “We want it to be unique and special and we [want] it to be a very big event but at the same time it’s small and it’s just close friends and close family.
As for how the couple plans to make their nuptials special, the singer also recently spoke with MTV News about their plans, saying she and her husband-to-be had written a song together as the theme for their wedding.
Though it was first believed that the couple had been married on Saturday, those reports turned out to be false. The marriage will be the first for Kroeger, though Lavigne was previously married to Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley.
Nickelback will hit the road for a new tour in September, including two South American concert dates with Bon Jovi. For a complete list of tour dates and the latest on the band’s follow-up to 2011’s Here and Now, visit nickelback.com.
