Slash Talks Origins of New Album Title

INDIO, CA - APRIL 13: Musician Slash performs onstage with Motorhead during day 3 of the 2014 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival at the Empire Polo Club on April 13, 2014 in Indio, California.
Slash
has preceded his upcoming "World on Fire" album -- his second featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators -- with the set's title track, which is already a Top 10 Mainstream Rock hit on Billboard.

Slash and company have been playing the song live during its summer tour with Aerosmith, but the guitarist tells us that there's been a little confusion about both the song and album titles:

"There's no social commentary, originally, about the album title. It was a song on the record that had absolutely nothing to do with global events or the state of humanity or global warming or any of that. It's a song basically about sex. But when I started looking for an album title -- this is basically in the 11th hour, when the album was almost done being mixed and I realized I was way behind on this particular process of making the record -- and I just thought something about that title stuck out to me. I think it was because a lot of stuff was going on; when we were recording guitars, CNN's always in the background. There was the whole thing about the Malaysian flight, the first one that went down, and Israel and there was all this stuff going on with Russia at the time...So 'World on Fire' all of a sudden had a much broader connotation."

The "World on Fire" album is due out September 15. Slash wraps up with Aerosmith on September 12 and will launch the albums with club shows in West Hollywood September 23, 25 and 26 before heading overseas for a European tour that starts November 10 in Dublin, Ireland.
