More Hilarious Details Emerge From Faux Scott Weiland Arrest

NEW YORK, NY - JULY 25: Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots performs at the Williamsburg Waterfront on July 25, 2011 in New York City.
This is, by far, one of the best rock star arrest stories ever…and the rock star in question wasn’t even arrested!

To bring you up to speed, TMZ reported on a recent meth possession arrest involving former Stone Temple Pilot frontman Scott Weiland, after the Beverly Hills Police Department sent out a press release titled “Celebrity Arrest.”  Only problem is, the guy in custody wasn’t Weiland; he’s Jason Hurley, who happened to be at one point part of an STP cover band called Stone Tempered Pilots, according to AlternativeNation.com.

For starters, that’s easily one of the worst cover band names I’ve ever heard.  It completely lacks the cleverness often found in most cover band names.

More importantly, how dumb are the Beverly Hills Police?!  How do you mess this up?  TMZ recently posted side-by-side images of Weiland and Hurley, and while the two have similar hair and bone structure, you can easily tell who the REAL Scott Weiland is.

Up until now, the most embarrassing thing to happen to the Beverly Hills PD was Beverly Hills Cop III, but even Axel Foley would never have let this happen.
