Sabbath Receiving “Ambassadors of Rock” Award

LOS ANGELES, CA - JANUARY 26: (L-R) Musicians Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath speak onstage during the 56th GRAMMY Awards at Staples Center on January 26, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
Black Sabbath
probably already considered themselves “Ambassadors of Rock,” but it’s always nice to get an award confirming that title.

Nordoff Robbins, a London-based music therapy charity, will be presenting the legendary metal band with this honor at their annual Silver Clef Awards on July 4th.  Past recipients of the “Ambassadors of Rock” award include Arcade Fire, Slash and Queen.

Ozzy Osbourne said in a statement that the award is “a huge honor” and that Nordoff Robbins “is a very special charity that brings music to everyone.”

I’ll tell you one thing:  It’s fitting that Sabbath are receiving this award from a music therapy organization.  Is there anything more therapeutic than blasting Paranoid after a stressful work day?  I doubt it.
