The Metal God will be mortal for a bit this spring.
With a new album and tour looming, Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford has revealed that he has to undergo surgery for an umbilical hernia that he says looks like "the alien just burst forth!"
Halford had surgery last year to treat some back issues that had been bothering him for years, but he says the hernia is not causing him debilitating pain and the surgery is expected to be straightforward.
Judas Priest is preparing for the July 15 release of "Redeemer of Souls," the group's first new album in six years and its first with guitarist Richie Faulkner, who replaced co-founder KK Downing in 2011. The album also marks the 40th anniversary of Priest's first release, "Rocka Rolla." Tour dates are expected to be announced soon.
