Lars Ulrich Sounds Off On Deep Purple’s Rock Hall Snub

LOS ANGELES, CA - JANUARY 26: Musician Lars Ulrich of Metallica performs onstage during the 56th GRAMMY Awards at Staples Center on January 26, 2014 in Los Angeles, California
It’s no secret that there are a number of hard rock and metal acts that deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and for one reason or another, they’ve been overlooked.  If you ask Lars Ulrich his opinion, there is definitely one glaring omission among the Rock Hall inductees.

“I’m not gonna get into the politics or all that stuff, but I got two words to say:  ‘Deep Purple,’” said Ulrich in an interview with RollingStone.com.

Considering that Deep Purple has been eligible for induction in 1993, yet have only been nominated for induction twice since then, Ulrich’s frustration is understandable.  He and the members of Metallica haven’t shied away from their admiration toward Deep Purple and other associated acts, like Rainbow and Dio, and how they have influenced Metallica’s sound.

What are your thoughts?  What eligible hard rock and metal acts belong in the Rock Hall?  Take a cue from Lars, and sound off in the comments below!
