Flea, Mars Volta Members Form New Band

[UPDATE: 4/9/2014 10:00am]  “4 AM” is now available for download through iTunes.

Because he doesn't have enough to do making the next Red Hot Chili Peppers album and writing his autobiography, Flea has started another band.

The bassist -- who's also part of Atoms For Peace with Radiohead's Thom Yorke -- has teamed up with former At The Drive-In and Mars Volta bandmates Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez in a new group called Antemasque.

The trio has released YouTube video clips (above) from its studio sessions and rehearsals, including a portion of an aggressive, kinetic song called "4AM;" a formal release of the track is expected to be announced soon on Antemasque's new Twitter page.

The collaboration marks a reconciliation for Bixler-Zavala and Rodriguez-Lopez after the two broke up Mars Volta in 2013 when Rodriguez-Lopez started another band, Bosnian Rainbows.
