4/22 UCP Life Without Limits 5K

United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia & Vicinity supports thousands of children and adults living with disabilities in the Delaware Valley every year, but unfortunately, there are many more who need our help.

This is why your support of the Life Without Limits 5K is so essential. Engage your friends, family, and colleagues in helping us continue our work for the community. Every gift is significant to UCP, our staff, and most important are the families and individuals who rely on our services.

Fundraising provides UCP with the means to:

· Help parents fight for their child’s right to quality education

· Advise families on making modifications to their home or vehicles.

· Offer music, art, sports, and other activities to teens and adults with disabilities

· Support families caring for a loved one with a disability in their home

We’re not the only ones who benefit when you fundraise. You can too. We’re offering fundraising incentives especially for the UCP Life Without Limits 5K.

4/24 Deep-Rooted Wisdom Presentation

A gardening celebrity in the Carolinas, Jenks Farmer teaches readers across the Southeast and up the Eastern Seaboard how sustainability can be incorporated into their techniques in his new book, Deep-Rooted Wisdom. Past Director of SC's 2 major botanical gardens, his work has been widely covered, including features in Southern Living, Garden & Gun, and Better Homes & Gardens. Farmer will tell stories he’s collected from his gardening mentors, recount how their lessons hold up against modern research and show how he uses these lessons in design to build earth-friendly, forward-thinking gardens.

4/26 6th Annual Miles for Myeloma 5K Run/Walk

In celebration of cancer survivors, patients and supporters, The Philadelphia Multiple Myeloma Networking Group (PMMNG) along with the Central and Northern New Jersey Multiple Myeloma Support Groups will host the 5th Annual Miles for Myeloma 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, April 26, 2014.  Please join more than 1,000 participants for this family-friendly event that benefits the research initiatives of the International Myeloma Foundation and Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation  and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Multiple Myeloma Financial Assistance Program.

Myeloma is the second most common blood cancer that affects an estimated 750,000 people worldwide. While treatable, there is not yet a cure for this disease. By starting a team, volunteering, or becoming a sponsor, you will support research toward finding a cure as well as assisting the many local families impacted by myeloma with the heavy financial burden of having this type of cancer.

4/30 Save Coach Haggerty's House

The last few years have been pretty rough, but that has not stopped John Haggerty from reaching out to help others. He has opened his home to take in others who would be homeless otherwise. Many of you know him as Coach Haggs for coaching championship hockey at Lasalle High School. He has saved lives on and off the ice through the years. He has tutored young men in various subjects, who have gone on to be successful in college and careers. 

John has a heart of gold and will help people even if it means going without, himself. This winter, he took in a family who were living in their car. He gave up his memory foam bed to sleep on his old, lumpy couch, for the parents to sleep in his room. He had broken ribs at the time. To those of you who know him, this is no surprise. He is also more concerned about providing paying work for those depending on him than he is about his own business situation.

He is a master woodworker and the most patient teacher most of us have ever met. He would love to be full time working in his shop, making beautiful pieces, solving problems and helping people develop new products.

He has helped countless people in various ways without asking anything in return. Now, we are asking on his behalf. He is in bankruptcy. The bank is still trying to take his house. He needs $60,000 to stop the foreclosure. $150,000 would pay off the house and shop altogether. There is no doubt that it will be paid forward, for truly it already has been, in the lives John has saved and 100s more he has enriched!

This event will be $110 per golfer or $400 for a foursome. The price includes green fees, golf cart, full barbeque lunch, draft beer, and other drinks, and a "goodie bag" for each golfer. We will be having 50/50, basket raffles, closest to the hole competition, and a "buy a mulligan" program.

6/14 Zumba Night with the Philadelphia Soul

On Saturday, June 14, 2014 the Philadelphia Soul takes on the Pittsburgh Power at 6p join us as we march towards another championship season. The Soul will also host its first ever Zumba Night with an emphasis on setting a new Guinness World Record by hosting the largest Zumba fitness class.  Registrations begins at 1:30p and the class starts at 3:45p.  Registration is $30 and includes your game day ticket, a food voucher and Soul water bottle with a portion of the Zumba ticket proceeds go directly to a charity of our choosing.  For tickets or more information contact Cassandra L. 6/14 NOVA's 2nd Annual NO BULLying 5- mile run

NOVA (Network of Victim Assistance) is a non-profit organization that supports, counsels and empowers victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes in Bucks County, and works to prevent and eliminate violence in society through advocacy, training, community education and prevention programs.

The NO BULLying Run will feature a 5-mile race and a 1-mile family fun walk/run at Doylestown’s Central Park.  Occurring simultaneously will be family-friendly events including live entertainment, kid friendly activities that promote respect, self-esteem and more.  In addition, an awards ceremony and raffle drawings will follow the race.

6/20 11th Annual UCP Motor Cars Under the Stars

Introduced in 2004, UCP Motor Cars Under the Stars showcases the artistry of vintage automobiles and motorcycles at prestigious venues around Philadelphia. The event attracts hundreds of corporate and philanthropic leaders as well as car enthusiasts from throughout the region. All proceeds benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia and Vicinity.

The evening includes a cocktail reception, butlered hors d'oeuvres, elaborate buffet, entertainment, live and silent auctions, program, and the Life Without Limits awards ceremony hosted by CBS 3 anchors.

The 4UDREW Foundation is holding its 5th Annual Festival and Car Show to support soup kitchens/pantries and scholarship fund.

Enjoy a Sunday afternoon with family and friends at Doylestown Central Park viewing a variety of unique cars, bikes and trucks from Bucks County and beyond.  Enjoy vendors, games, music, raffles and of course, a variety of food! Fun for everyone!

Trophies will be awarded at 3 PM. Rain date is Sunday, August 10.
