To help kick-off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, please join Steve Morrison and the Lankenau Medical Center as they "Light the Night Pink" outside of the Heart Pavilion at Lankenau Medical Center on October 2nd!

After a pink luminary lighting ceremony, Hotbox Yoga in Manyunk will lead a one-hour, outdoor yoga class designed for all skill levels and body types.

There is no cost for the event, but donations to support Unite for HER wellness programs at Lankenau Medical Center are encouraged. *Participants must bring a yoga mat. Luminaries and t-shirts will be available for purchase.

10/3 Swiss Farms Customer Appreciation Day

Swiss Farms will be hosting a Customer Appreciation Day at their Clifton Heights location (5340 North Springfield Road, Clifton Heights, PA 19018) on Friday, October 3, 2014. During the event, representatives from Cradles to Crayons will be on-hand to collect donations of new & gently used children’s coats, and Swiss Farms will provide free coffee, lunch, and snacks.

Cradles to Crayons is a local organization that provides children living in homeless or low-income situations with the essentials they need to thrive. Cradles to Crayons supplies these items free-of-charge by connecting “communities that have” with “communities that need”.  The organization has been serving the Philadelphia area since 2006.  Customers wishing to donate should bring new or gently used children’s coats to the Clifton Heights Swiss Farms on October 3.  Cradles to Crayons representatives will be present from 9 am to 4 pm, but customers can bring donations all day long.

Regardless of appearance or abilities, canines demonstrate constant support and unconditional love to their family members affected by cancer. Bark For Life invites many vendors, community members, and participants to enjoy the day while celebrating those who have won their battle with cancer, remembering those we have lost to the disease, and “barking back” to end this disease. 10/4 The 1st annual Heart Jam

The cardiac cath lab at Brandywine Hospital presents the 1st annual Heart Jam.

There will be live music from cover bands playing everything from the Eagles and Doobie Bros to Alice in Chains and The Killers. There will be silent auctions for autographed items donated by the Philadelphia Eagles and Flyers. Raffles for all kinds of prizes, baskets and gift cards, from free bowling and kayaking, to Otter boxes, to rare beers, as well as free tours of the brewery. We have games and a photo booth.

Tickets include food and beer pairings from Victory and can be purchased on the "events" page of Victory brewing's website (HERE). All proceeds go to the American Heart Association for heart disease education and research.

10/10 - 10/11 The Keeping Kids Safe Project

The Keeping Kids Safe Project by S.I.P. Kids, a national child safety organization who tours the country providing free FBI quality digital fingerprints for children, is coming to Turnersville to host a free child safety fair. “Police officials say time is crucial in the recovery of missing children. One major problem that costs precious time is gathering current photographs, fingerprints, and personal information to assist law enforcement agencies,” says National Director of S.I.P. Kids, Lytishya Borglum.

In addition to fingerprinting there will be local organizations in attendance. These organizations will be bringing out different activities for the children and all events will be free.

Be The Match operates the world's largest listing of potential bone marrow donors and donated cord blood units. The Be The Match Foundation raises funds to help patients who need a bone marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant (such as those with Leukemia, Lymphoma and Aplastic Anemia) find a donor and receive treatment.

The purpose of this walk/run is to transplant hope and help raise critical funds and awareness for these patients.

Sunday, October 12, more than 1,500 grape aficionados will gather to help crush cancer at the 23rd Annual Dilworthtown Inn Wine Festival. As the county’s premier wine event, the festival features more than 100 wines, craft beers, hard cider, sumptuous fare prepared by Dilworthtown Inn chefs, a Silent Auction, shopping opportunities in the Gallery of Artisan Vendors, live music, a Performance Car Show, and much more. Proceeds from the wine festival benefit patients of The Cancer Program of Chester County Hospital and Neighborhood Health.

The 10th Anniversary of the Gravediggers' Ball charity fundraiser for Laurel Hill Cemetery promises to be the best one yet - a 'can't miss' this Halloween season! Extra Life is a Gaming Charity Marathon. On an Autumn Saturday each year since 2008, tens of thousands of gamers have joined together to save the lives of local kids in a celebration of gaming culture that we call Extra Life.  From console games to tabletop RPG's to even lawn sports, Extra Life gives people that love to play a chance to do what they love to save lives and make a difference.

To participate you need only sign up (free) and gather the support of your friends and family through tax-deductible donations to your local CMN Hospital.  Then on Saturday, October 25th, 2014 (or any day that works for you!) play any game(s) you want on any platform(s) that you want with anyone you want for as long as you want.

The proceeds from Extra Life stay where they're raised to support children's hospitals.

GAME/PLATFORM:  Play any games on any platforms you want including mobile devices or board games!

HOW IT WORKS:  Simply ask your friends and family to sponsor your efforts.  They can make a monthly pledge or a one-time gift.  Then, have a seat and play games on October 25th.

WHO IT BENEFITS:  Gamers select the children's hospital they want to play for during registration.  In the US and Canada there are more than 170 CMN Hospitals to choose from.  Players outside of North America can choose hospitals and causes that work specifically in their area of the world.

10/25 Flyers Charities Halloween 5K

The Flyers Charities Halloween 5K is a fun-filled day for competitive runners and families alike. The race will go off at 9AM on October 25, 2014 and will begin and end at the Wells Fargo Center. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite costumes and/or Flyers gear while enjoying the company of their friends, family, and neighbors from the community.

The male and female race winners in four age categories will receive two tickets to a mutually agreed upon Flyers Regular Season Home Game during the 2014-15 Season.  Prizes will also be awarded for top costumes. 

The event will also feature a family fun area with inflatables, face painters, pumpkin painting and other fun activities.  

Net proceeds benefit Flyers Charities, a division of Comcast-Spectacor Charities, to help support local non-profit organizations in the Greater Philadelphia Region.

Come out to MaGerk's in Fort Washington for a night of entertainment on Halloween-eve, 10/30 from 6pm to 10pm!  The Secret Service band & DJ Darren will both be on stage!!  If that's not enough, we'll also have prize drawings including but not limited to... ski lessons, fun centers for kids, massage &... a stay in Cancun, Mexico!  Also, you can take a shot at a 50/50 raffle if you are feeling lucky.

The Second Annual Give Kids The World Delaware Event will be held November 7-9 at the Newark Senior Center & Klondike Kate's, in Newark DE - Where Disney Fans Help Kids!

Three days of events, including a Social & Game night, Live, Silent, and Raffle auctions, a live recording of the DIS Unplugged podcast, and an indoor yard sale!

All proceeds go to the Give Kids the World Village in Florida, where children with life-threatening illnesses can spend a cost-free week with their family.

The Trauma Survivors Foundation cordially invites you to our signature fundraiser, The Black Tie and Sneakers Gala, which will be held on Friday, November 7th at 7:30 PM in the Christiana Hilton of Newark, Delaware. 

Our Black Tie and Sneakers Gala is an annual event that requests your best “tux and chucks” attire! The evening includes a silent auction and raffle prizes along with food, drink and entertainment. Show us your moves on the dance floor or network with other charity-minded individuals, all while supporting survivors of traumatic events. Guests attending this Gala will consist of individuals representing corporations, small businesses, clubs and organizations as well as members of emergency services, medical professionals and families.   

Traumatic events and the aftermath touch many people in our community and The Trauma Survivors Foundation is here to help pick up the pieces. A celebration of American creativity is coming to the Lancaster County Convention Center, November 8 & 9.  The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen presents its annual holiday fine craft fair, open from 10 am to 6 pm Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm Sunday.

The fair features the work of 140 craftspeople who were selected by a jury for their unique vision and impeccable craftsmanship.  Items for sale include pottery, jewelry, designer clothing, furniture, scherenschnitte, and fine art.

Admission is $8. Coupons are available for $1 off entry. Free for children 16 and under.

11/9 TriRock Clearwater Triathlon through the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America

TriRock Clearwater is a sprint Triathlon to raise money toward finding a cure for both Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis one stroke, one pedal, and one step at a time. A minimum of $.82 per $1.00 donated to CCFA goes directly to research, education, and patient support services, and your contribution is 100% tax deductible. Donations can be made individually, as company matches, or even as corporate sponsorships.

12/7 Girls on the Run Philadelphia Fall 2014 5K

Join Girls on the Run Philadelphia as we cheer on our girls as they complete their end of season 5K! This fall, GOTR Philadelphia will be hosting our first celebratory 5k Run/Walk at the Philadelphia Zoo! The 5K (3.1 mile) course will loop through the interior and around the exterior of the zoo. The entry fee includes all day entry to the zoo, so plan to stay and enjoy the amenities! Gates open at 7 AM, race begins at 8:15 sharp!  Award ceremony to follow.

Friends and family who won't be running but want to come cheer, please register as a spectator. The $10 gains you entrance to the zoo for the whole day, and access to the entire event!
