Help Politz Day School win $500,000 to build a new gym for our school!
Help Politz Day School win $500,000 to build a new gym for our school!
Politz Day School is a small, private Jewish day school in the heart of a
very special community in Cherry Hill, NJ. Our students, parents and staff
are one-of-a-kind and our facility is beautiful. All we're missing is a
gym/multipurpose room.
Building one will cost $1,000,000. We have the support of a generous
foundation willing to match every dollar we raise, and now we need your
help.
Kohl's Cares is running a campaign on Facebook to give away $500,000 to 20
schools in need, and with just a few clicks you can help Politz be one of
them. Between now and September 3rd, you can go on Facebook and vote for
us (you can vote up to 5 times!), and then help us spread the word by
telling everyone you know about it. We need a few thousand people cast
their 5 votes for us in the next three weeks, and with your help we can do
it (voting instructions below)!
The possibilities are endless with a new gym for our school; everything
that makes Politz great can be even better! If we achieve our goal, we
will proudly post a list of every person who helped make our dream a
reality.
And if that's not incentive enough for you, here's an extra perk:
Each week for the next 3 weeks, Politz Day School of Cherry Hill will
raffle of an IPAD to everyone who voted. Visit http://www.votepolitz.com
for instructions for how to vote and enter the raffle.
To follow our campaign and see raffle results, visit the Politz Day School

2010 Philadelphia Undy 5000
The goal is to promote awareness of Colorectal Cancer, prevention techniques, and raise donations for research. The twist to the whole event, making it different from other 5Ks, is that runners and walkers are encouraged to run/walk in their underwear! Many participants take a humorous approach to this, but I am sure there are going to be some shocking displays! The other fun twist is that instead of receiving a t-shirt for participating, runners and walkers will receive "undies", Blue Undy 5000 shorts!

WHAM – Winning Hearts & Minds Soccer Donation Program
The Clayton Soccer Assoc. will donate their old and unused soccer equipment and uniforms to WHAM – Winning Hearts & Minds project in honor of PFC DJ Bentz. The DJ Bentz Memorial Complex was named for PFC DJ Bentz in the Fall of 2008. PFC DJ Bentz, an Army Soldier who lost his life due to a roadside bomb in Iraq on June 20, 2007, played soccer for the Clayton School District, which he attended. His devotion for the game carried on in Iraq, where he played soccer with groups of Iraqi children, teaching them the ways and means of the game, which we call ‘Soccer’ in America.
The WHAM project offers these children a way to enjoy life during a time of war and disruption in their neighborhoods.
Though the Clayton Soccer Assoc. is making their donation of old equipment and uniforms in the coming weeks, they will be accepting donations of the same; inclusive of shoes, at their opening ceremony on September 11, 2010. This will be a day they open their season and open their hearts for those less fortunate. Our soldiers look to build relationships with the residents of the towns in which they patrol and those relationships start with the children who fear the unknown.
There will be bins available at the DJ Bentz Memorial Soccer Complex at the opening day ceremony on Sept. 11, 2010.
For further information please contact Pauline Bicking at 856-362-0622.

LOCAL FAMILIES INCLUDE SHOE BOXES ON BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING LISTS
Aug. 2010—Kids in our local area are learning something surprising about back-to-school shopping—it is not just a time to fill their book bags and closets, it is also a great opportunity to fill shoe boxes to help children in need around the world.
It may seem like an unusual addition to the annual back-to-school shopping spree, but through Operation Christmas Child families can make a real difference to a child in need by simply keeping the box from their new school shoes and filling it with small gifts. Operation Christmas Child plans to hand-deliver shoe box gifts to more than 8 million struggling children in 100 countries this year. An effort that massive means the project needs the help of families in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties, not just during the holidays, but also right now.
“When we do our back-to-school shopping it can be pretty easy for my kids to focus only on themselves. By including this great project in our shopping, it reminds the kids of how much they have and how good it feels to share with others who really need our help,” said one Operation Christmas Child volunteer.
Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham, encourages everyone to fill shoe boxes with toys, necessity items, school supplies, candy and hand-written notes of encouragement. The gifts are then shared with children worldwide who are suffering because of natural disaster, disease, war, terrorism, famine and poverty. For many of these children, the shoe box gift will be the first gift they have ever received, letting them know they are loved and not forgotten.
Why now—months before the holiday season?
Operation Christmas Child is not limited to just a few weeks a year. It is a year-round project, requiring months of organization and preparation to reach millions of kids around the world. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has distributed shoe box gifts to more than 77 million hurting children in some 130 countries.
HOW CAN I HELP NEEDY KIDS WORLDWIDE? It’s Simple!
PREPARE—Help enlist families, churches, scout troops, community groups and businesses to take advantage of back-to-school sales by collecting discounted school supplies for shoe box gifts.
PACK—Fill shoe boxes with school supplies, toys, necessity items, hard candy and a letter of encouragement.
Step-by-step shoe box packing instructions are available at www.samaritanspurse.org.
For more information on how to participate in Operation Christmas Child, call 610-363-8546, e-mail occphilly@aol.com, or visit www.samaritanspurse.org. National Collection Week for gift-filled shoe boxes is Nov.15-22; however, shoe box gifts are collected all year at the Samaritan’s Purse headquarters in Boone, N.C.
MEDIA NOTE: Complete media materials, including a media kit and high-resolution photos, are available at www.DeMossNews.com/occ.
