The Hope Express is an event held in conjunction with the Penn State Dance Marathon ("THON").
The Hope Express is a 135 mile relay, run over a 24 hour period. The relay begins at the Hershey Medical Center and ends in State College. The purpose of this run is to deliver letters to the dancers at THON created by children at the Hershey Medical Center who are too sick to attend the event.The relay teams consists of 15 runners, each running three 3-mile legs, with the entire team running the last mile into THON together.
All funds raised from The Hope Express are donated to the Four Diamonds Fund—an organization that provides financial assistance to the families of children with cancer at the Hershey Medical Center.
