Camp Ockanickon, Medford NJ will host its 6th Annual Gobbler Run And Family Fun Walk on Saturday, November 24 . Registration begins at 8:30 with the race and walk starting at 9:15. The event will be held rain or shine.
The course takes runners and walkers through the trails around the lakes of Camp Ockanickon. Whether you are an Olympic runner or just want to take the family for a walk, join in the fun and excitement. You can burn off some of that Thanksgiving feast while helping give a child a chance to be a kid again. Proceeds from the event will benefit the 2012 Annual Campaign.
One of the highlights of the Gobbler Run will be the Mighty Pilgrim of the Pines Team Challenge. We are challenging all local groups, businesses and organizations to participate by entering a four person team. Enter as many teams as you wish. In addition to helping our community’s kids, the winning team will receive the coveted Mighty Pilgrim of the Pines Challenge Trophy.
The Gobbler 5 K Run and Family Fun Walk is a terrific way to work off the Thanksgiving feast and help build a healthy lifestyle. Runners will challenge themselves against the clocks while enjoying the scenic trails and lake-lined paths of Camp Ockanickon. The course is both dirt road and single track. You may view the 5 K course at mapmyrun.com at www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/103233615
If you would rather a walk instead bring the family. The course is child and stroller friendly and allows you to take in the autumn colors and natural beauty at a easy pace.
While competing you will also be helping the Camp Ockanickon Annual Support campaign. Your support will directly give a child the opportunity to experience a summer program at Camp Ockanickon for boys, Camp Matollionequay for Girls or Lake Stockwell Day Camp.
